The focus of this course is the reasoning process used when we are making decisions. Some reasoning processes are for individual decisions, while others are for social decisions. It is important to remember that the course (and these assignments) are NOT about opinions (your own or the expert’s), but rather about the reasoning process used in arriving at these opinions and decisions.

In the homework assignments, you are being asked to identify the reasoning process (a.k.a. the decision-making process) being used by the expert or experts who authored the selection you will read and analyze. The articles selected for these assignments each utilize ONE DOMINANT reasoning process, so please give only ONE answer – the one which fits the situation the best. Be sure that you keep in mind ALL of the criteria of the category, principle, and appeal when selecting which is the best fit. If you are unsure which answer is the best fit, you may consult the instructor before submitting this assignment. (Please provide your reasoning for what you think the answer is and allow enough time for an answer.)

Questions 1-3 ask you for a simple identification. In other words, please fill in only the phrase needed to identify the category, principle, and appeal being used by the expert(s). Remember to be consistent as you use the narrowing in process of category  principle  appeal. Correctly identifying these three things will account for 60% of your grade on this assignment.

Question 4 is an essay which asks you to explain WHY the category, principle, and appeal you selected are the best answer to the reasoning process used by the expert(s). Your ability to explain this thoroughly accounts for the remaining 40% of the grade on this assignment. Please use your best writing skills (spelling, punctuation, etc.). A good answer to this essay will explain (a) what the criteria are for the category,

1.0 INTRODUCTION Every day in our live we have to solve any problems that come our way.As such making a good decision is an essential skill for personal and career success. This is also an important criteria to be an effective leadership. If we can make timely and well-considered decisions, then we can often lead ourselves or our team to success (Haresh Kumar Kantilal & Anton Espira, 2008). A good decision is not only influenced by the experience, efficiency and skills of the decision maker but also the adequacy and validity of the information obtained that are related to the decisions required (Abu Mansor et. al., 1999). Decision making is the process of choosing what to do by considering the possible consequences of different choices (Von Winterfeldt & Edwards, 1986; Beyth-Marom et al., 1991 as cited in Haresh Kumar Kantilal & Anton Espira, 2008). Although decision making seems simple, however, to ensure that the decision made is the best, it must be rational. This means the decision has to be based on facts, opinions and reasonable reasons. Systematic evaluations have to be conducted in the overall process of decision making. As such making a rational decision can be defined as a systematic process of defining problems, evaluating decision alternatives and selecting the best alternative decisions availableand implement them.Generally, decisions that are made based on facts and opinions are the best decisions (Williams, 2000). This is one of the important duties of a manager. For this paper, I will discuss the decision of my choice involved in choosing the best career that has been offered to me that is whether to choose Job A, Job B or…
