Ethical Standards In Psychology
Ethical standards and competence establishes psychological it just must work within their scope of practice. This can be based off of experience training supervision and specific role. Informed consent the clinician will provide the client with a written statement that outlines the goals that the treatment is expected to meet with that they'll be rights and responsibilities and risks that could come from medications or other aspects of the therapy and the treatment that the client should be aware of. Confidentiality is where the clinician won't speak to others about the client read the client can see the clinician and their discussions would be considered a secret part of the client clinician relationship that is strictly maintained by the license psychologist and protected by most state laws (p. 391).
As far as relationships with clients students or research collaborations and bookkeeping the psychologist has to avoid harming others and refrain from engaging in relationships that could cause a conflict of interest.
Chapter 15 also covered ethical and legal issues in providing service psychologist have to provide the best possible service to their clients but at the same time they have to balance the rights of the clients with those of community.
