This Ethics Game simulation contained two ethical dilemmas. Like the other simulation that was completed in week 3, the simulations is from the perspective of someone in a manager 's position. In the simulation, you must make decisions that could have an effect on the people directly involved with the situation or people with the business. The first dilemma was named the Mysterious Roses and the second dilemma was called Cold Feet.
The Mysterious Roses simulation begins by putting the reader as the Director of Sales. Being the Director of Sales you received some emails from your co-workers and employees. One of the emails is from an anonymous employee who is stating that a co-worker is having trouble at work. Another email is in regards to anti-harassment classes. Then an email is received from Gayle who is an employee that is receiving unsolicited roses and cards at work. She wants to speak about a matter privately and confidently because the roses are making her uncomfortable at work.
During the simulation, there are some decision making steps that are to be completed to address the issues. As Director of Sales you have to identify the problem, identify who is effected by the problem, also figure out your duties to the people involved and what steps are needed to solve the problem. To solve the moral dilemma: the Rights and Responsibility Lens and the Results Lens are the lenses used to complete the simulation.
To assist in the decision making there are a few apparatuses that are available when looking at the Rights and Responsibility Lens. With the Rights and Responsibility Lens the focus is on the employee 's duty. The tools that are used involve asking questions in regards to motive, universalizability, reversibility, prior agreements and general expectations. The focus of the Results Lens is the option that will bring happiness over the long term. The included tools

In the case of mysterious roses am depicted as director of sales. Who is possibly handling a situation revolving around possible harassment. Gayle Dornier had been receiving anonymous flowers and another employee (Bill Witherspoon) is suspected of being responsible. Gayle has requested me for a personal meeting regarding a confidential matter. The ethical issue presented here is how to ensure that Gayle can talk about what happened while meeting your responsibility as a manager to treat all employees fairly in an investigation. To arrive to my decision I followed different steps in the Baird model. By being attentive to what was happening in regards to the situation. After I used being intelligent to determine my stakeholders while looking at the big picture of what was the exact problem. In the next step, be reasonable I examined the situation using different lenses. Where I determined what would make each stakeholder happy while keeping my responsibilities in mind. The next step is being responsibility where I make my choice after which I reflect on my choice using different lenses. These lenses are rights and responsibilities lens, result lens, relationship lens or the reputation lens. I used two lenses namely rights/ responsibility and result lens to access the situation. The rights/ responsibility lens helps us take a decision rationally as I allow Gayle to maintain responsibility for her own actions while fulfilling my duties. On the other hand result lens is…

In the case of the mysterious rose, the simulation presented the dilemma of a woman employee receiving flowers from another anonymous employee. I, as her director, know about this situation. The employee sends an e-mail asking for my confidence in a meeting. The problem that presents itself is how I should answer the employee’s request for confidentiality in a meeting. Since I know of the flowers and the possibility of harassment, I know that I cannot give her my word on 100% confidentiality. The simulation goes through a series of steps guiding the user to look at the situation from different ethical lenses. Both the rights and responsibilities lens and the results lens take the first step in identifying the primary stakeholders. The following steps differed for the two lenses.…

The ethical issues that were addressed in these simulations were religion and violation of company policies. In the mysterious blogger simulation an employee hacked another employee’s personal PC only to find that the other employee was blogging about the company. Which was in violation of the company’s policy. In the unveiled I.D simulation an employee, which is a woman has issues taking a photo for an ID because it is against her religion to show her face unless amongst other women only. The decisions making steps I took to resolve these dilemmas was the being reasonable lens trying to consider what is good, fair, true, and virtuous. Using the Rights and Responsibilities Lens, one attended to the context by reading all emails, carefully considering all information presented (University of Phoenix, 2013). Next one explored the values in tension to determine a proper statement of the issue (University of Phoenix, 2013). After stating the issue, one determined who were the stakeholders involved. Next the Director of Sales identified his or her duties owed to the stakeholder and determined the degree, low, medium or high, of the impact the decision would have on each stakeholder (University of Phoenix, 2013). In the next step, the Director of Sales acted with courage and chose what he or she believed to be the best option to resolve the issue (University of Phoenix, 2013). The final step was reflecting on his or her decision (University of Phoenix, 2013). However, when using the Results Lens, after attending to the context, properly stating the issue, and determining the stakeholders involved, one identified the ethical desires of each stakeholder (University of Phoenix, 2013). Next, the Director of Sales chose the best option combining his or her stakeholder impact analysis with his or her knowledge of what will satisfy each…
