Maintaining a Safe Working Environment My personal experience with maintaining a safe working environment was a result of an unfortunate incident that occurred in the office. An employee tripped over an opened cabinet that was left open in a hallway, and as a result, he injured knee ligaments and missed substantial work time.
The result of that and another safety incident inspired me and other management to implement monthly and quarterly safety checklists. I believe that maintaining a safe working environment in the workplace is a very important value in business decision making because it reduces the risk of injuries and lost work time. I have witnessed employees making sexual comments or innuendos to another employee; however, the other employee involved did not complain about it. In today's professional environment, those innuendos would be considered harassment. I think it is the proper time to start reporting more instances of sexual harassment with the intent on lowering the instances. Confronting, and especially avoiding sexual harassment in the workplace is also an important value in business decision making. I had taken training classes on avoiding and confronting sexual harassment and the class taught me to take the proper steps to avoid sexual harassment, to identify reverse sexual harassment, what steps to take when witnessing sexual harassment, the proper way to escalate harassment complaints,
