Esther Alternate Ending
Sitting in an isolated section of the restaurant with a cup of coffee and a small volume in front of her, Esther was pretending to read. She was tossing about the behavior of her son and the word stupid kept coming into play, a word she never applied to Neil before. What chemical imbalance goes into play with young males that shut down the processes controlling logic and simple good judgment? Above most in scholastic matters, she told herself, he labors like no other when it comes to perfecting his musical output, yet for the simple animal lust, reason discarded along the roadside and recklessness finds itself in the driver’s seat.
She looked at her watch, then towards the entrance. Where is she? She sipped her coffee and looks back down at the book. Why did I choose John Donne? Although Donne was a favorite, her anger compromised her power of concentration. Looking up again, she sees Mrs. Calvé with a tall and broad statured-gentleman, wearing a dark gray pinstripe suit, stripe tie and gold wire rimmed glasses. Pointing out the direction, Denise and the gentleman arrived smiling. Esther gestured that they sit. Esther’s tension disappeared; and replaced by an unexpected challenge.

Outwater this is John Gaffney, my attorney. He insisted on coming, so that we can establish an amicable settlement.”
“Mr. Gaffney,” Esther reached over to shake his offered hand.
“Mrs. Outwater, Mrs. Calvé told me that you have given her some suggested settlement possibilities, is that so?”

“I am legally obligated to advise you,” he begins, “that it would be in your best interest to have a lawyer present here. Mrs. Calvé tells me you have not retained one as yet?”
“I feel very confident that we can bring this matter to a close without one.”
“If you say so,” Mr. Gaffney accepted with a

Esther is invited by Constantin to go see the United Nations. Esther is well aware that Buddy’s mother, Mrs.Willard, is behind this meeting. Buddy is a man who has been chasing after Esther for quite some time now. Although it started rough and seemed to end rough, Buddy is still after her. His mother, Mrs. Willard, is also very fond of Esther. During her college years, she had a crush on Buddy, and he would often play mind games with her. The two would also have issues agreeing on things due to their very different career paths (Buddy was training to be a doctor). This is yet another insight to Esther’s thoughts. It is quite clear that she thinks about Buddy a lot, although never letting it show. Many things remind her of Buddy. In recent letters, it seems as if Buddy is trying to prove himself to Esther.…

The hearing today will only take a few minutes with any luck. I will be able to make a decision before you leave.” He explained since Mr. Cassidy’s house was old and in need of repairs, the people of Howardsville had filed a petition to demolish it. As a result, Mr. Cassidy requested, we declare his house a historical landmark. “Since the house is over a hundred years old and he has lived there since birth, we will consider the petition.” Picking up another document, he stared at it. “Louise Anderson filed a protest stating the house is in need of repair. You have refused to allow her club to have the repairs done. She is requesting we have the house demolished. I’ll decide if her claim is legitimate.” The officer removed his glasses, looked at the ceiling for several minutes before he put them back on and read the documents several times. Laying his glasses on the desk, he asked, “Would you like a cup of coffee?” When they refused, he poured himself a cup. “Mrs. Anderson, it’s reasonable that you would like to see the house demolished, but considering Mr. Cassidy’s age. It would only be right to declare his home a historical landmark and allow him to stay in the house, but, he’ll be responsible for the repairs.” Louise asked, “May I say something?” “Sure, what’s on your mind?” Standing up, she addressed him, “Thank you, I’m the president of the Women’s Club, we spoke with several contractors who agree it’s unsafe for him to live in that house. Although, we offered to pay for the repairs, he was adamant that he had no use for charity for healthy people capable of working, and there was nothing wrong with his house, it was just old. I’d like him to move out at once.” “Mr. Cassidy, do you want to say anything?” “Yes, Sir,” he said. “My home is…

The first story in Ten Little Indians, written by Sherman Alexie introduces a college student with a passion for poetry and a drive to do anything to strengthen her knowledge of it. Similar to her passion, I have a passion for different law cases and I like to dissect every aspect of them to learn as much as possible. I then read the article, Rebel Music written by Daniel Felsenfeld, a pianist and music enthusiast. He describes how music had always been in his life, but he never truly found it until a buddy of his introduced him to Beethoven. Which was a new, and exciting experience. I in a similar fashion had always been interested in examining situation and expanding every side, but I did not know what to do with it. Until one day I was introduced…

In particular, just after one of her more innocent-sounding remarks about marriage, the narrator states, “I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I’m sure I never used to be so sensitive. I think it is due to this nervous condition” (Gilman, 71). Although she says it is probably due to her condition, the reader cannot help but wonder why, only a few paragraphs later, she reveals that despite her love for writing, “He hates to have me write a word” (Gilman, 72). This narrator is clearly feeling trapped in a marriage that does not allow her freedom. Meanwhile, as a man, her husband is free to come and go. This inability for her to express herself in a meaningful way eventually leads her to associate herself with the woman in the wallpaper who looks to be, like the narrator, behind bars or in a cage.…

A reckless driver zoomed down the wet and slippery roads. His car was shaking as his speakers blasted the thundering growls, the biting guitars, and the thrashing drums. He was angry that he couldn't keep his car clean. It had been raining all week making his pride-and-joy ugly and dull, it made his blood boil which wasn't a difficult feat these days. So he was dealing with his anger the only way he could at the moment. His music, he said, helped him relax. She knew he was lying. Sitting in the passenger seat her heart was racing almost as fast the senseless percussion in the pseudo-demonic band. The music made her feel vulnerable when he drove this way in this kind of mood.…
