Another major reason proving that it is necessary to get children vaccinated is because it affects other children’s lives and puts them at risk as well. “Special groups of people cannot be vaccinated” (“The Harm of…”), such as those with compromised immune systems or those who have cancers such as leukemia. These people rely on the public to get vaccinated so that they can be safe from preventable diseases as well. Some babies with weak immune systems are too young to get immunized, and in order to keep them safe, “it is important that [everyone] who [is] able to get vaccinated [is] fully immunized” (“Five Important Reasons…”). This way, family, friends, and loved ones do not have the risk of getting ill. “The more people who are vaccinated, the fewer opportunities a disease has to spread.” (“What Would Happen If…”) Therefore, it is necessary that everyone takes care of their immunizations. If there are “clusters of [unvaccinated children, it increases] the risk of exposing [a disease to] everyone in the community” (Steinhauer), affecting the community health as well. Vaccinations can lead to a bright future. Diseases are slowly beginning to disappear as vaccinations become popular. Those that once killed can be eliminated, a clear example being smallpox.
