Essay On The Transtheoretical Model
The Transtheoretical Model, also known as the Stages of Change Model was developed by Prochaska and DiClemente in the late 1970s. This particular model mainly focuses on the decision making of an individual and is considered a model of intentional change. The model posits that the individual passes through six different stages of change which includes precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination. The TTM is currently the most popular of a number of stage theories being used to examine health behavior change (PubMed - NCBI," n.d.). I'll be applying this theoretical account to my chosen behavior, which is to practice healthy eating. This particular stage refers to the time where I was not at all aware of the consequences or the risk factors I was being exposed to, had I continued to conform to an unhealthy diet. This stage is where I keep denying the fact for a change in my eating style and never agree upon or admit the straight facts about the negative side effects associated with an unhealthy diet. Following this stage is the contemplation phase, where I finally realize that I do have a problem and start thinking about my unhealthy behavior pattern. This stage is where I start to get thoughts regarding my diet and why I reject fruits and vegetables in my daily diet. Like I noted in other assignments, questions like why I hate all the vegetables when I haven't tried even half of it, comes into play. I get to know about the pros and cons associated with the alteration. At this particular stage is when I think about to giving a chance to myself in order to pursue a healthy diet. I get to know about the risks linked with unhealthy eating style and began to wonder whether I should change. Next comes the preparation phase,

The self determination theory looks at motivation and personality and combines aspects of behavioral self regulation as well as personality development (Ryan & Deci, 2000).
