Essay On Pet Insurance
Pet Insurance in West Virginia
West Virginia is an excellent state to raise pets in, whether they are indoor or outdoor ones. The weather conditions do vary, as summers can be hot and winters can be downright snowy and frosty, so it is important to choose a pet that you know you can care for no matter what the conditions. West Virginia also offers vast amounts of farmland for men and women who wish to raise outdoor farm animals, such as sheep, pigs, cows, horses, chicken and turkeys. Many also own typical house pets as well, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and more.

Unfortunately, owning a pet means taking on a great responsibility. Pets need healthcare on a regular basis, just the same as we do. Even if they are strictly an indoor pet for your family, there will still be a need for veterinary care at one point or another. In just a quick blink of an eye, your pet may get hurt or injured playing in the house or going for a walk, especially when they try to chase down the plethora of birds that West Virginia offers! In the article “The Last Meow”, written by Burkhard Bilger and published in the New Yorker, Bilger describes the current life of owning a pet and just how many expenses go into these animals. Bilger believes the care for pets nowadays is too extreme and that people spend way too much money to perform outrageous surgeries along with other beneficial practices just to save their pets. I agree with him to an extent. Although I do believe some smaller practices are necessary to help pets, like treatments when they get injured or have a cold, most treatments now are superfluous and help the owner’s emotions more than the owner or the pets well-beings.…

Laws are currently in place designed to protect the public from dangerous dogs. Unfortunately, these laws are not strict enough and are not enforced consistently. As a result, dangerous dogs have been an increasing problem for several years. Some municipalities are pushing for specific breed banning through breed specific legislation. These community leaders feel breed specific laws would better protect the public against dangerous dog attacks. However, lawmakers are just that, they are lawmakers; they have no expertise in dog behavior and, therefore, have no business trying to correct a problem about which they know nothing. Separating dogs into the "good breeds" and "bad breeds" or banning specific breeds are not feasible solutions in eliminating the problem.…
