Does trust alone determine a good leader? Odysseus was the king of Ithica and he went with an army to the Trojan War, and then he had tried to return home over a vast long journey. Odysseus and his men encountered many setbacks on their journey home. On top of all that Odysseus and his men did not get along at all. Odysseus was not a strong leader and ultimately contributed to the destruction of his own men because, he had blindly sacrificed six of his men, and he had not trusted them with the contents of the bag of winds.
Furthermore, Odysseus was a bad leader and led to his men’s destruction because he had blindly sacrificed them. Odysseus did not trust his men or he would have told them what was in the bag, and not to open it. In conclusion, Odysseus proved he was a bad leader because not only had he distrusted his men, but he had put them in danger without their knowing. This lack of trust had caused his men's destruction. He was an especially bad leader because the lack of trust that his men had felt directly lead to his men having died under his supervision.
