Essay On Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
Expository Essay Heroes are defined by an act of courage and ability in times of hardships. Their impact on the world is prominent and can inspire many young minds. Whether it is a major or minor problem, only those with experience can build their peculiarity. Certain actions can prove a person’s character. In Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, the main character, Jacob Portman is faced with a dilemma. He can either risk his life to save Miss Peregrine and the sacred haven from wights, an evolved hollowgast that had consumed an abundant amount of humans or leave the island knowing that he was next on death row. Wights are very similar to humans; however, they have milky-white eyes without any pupils. They have the ability to manipulate their appearances to gather humans for hollowgasts to consume. After traveling to a different world where children possess many unique qualities such as never aging, throwing fire, invisibility, or necromancy, Jacob soon realized that his grandfather never lied to him. With his gift of seeing hollowgasts, Jacob had to sacrifice his relationship with his father to help save Miss Peregrine. He had to leave behind an ordinary life, and his father would never be able to fully understand him. Initiating attacks against the wight and hollowgasts, Jacob thought of tactics that could delay his death and persevered through all difficulties such as running through a bog with a monster that had elongating tongues anticipating to snatch up its next victims that was just a few shadow …show more content…
Jacob Portman was a regular sixteen year old until he discovered the truth about his family. Jacob offered to help the peculiar children instead of cowering and lurking away from the harsh reality. His attitude about his current situation allowed him to save both Miss Peregrine and the lives of innocent people. His actions reinforced his bravery and humanitarian
