What is a Marine Biologist? When most think about becoming a marine biologist, they think about training dolphins. Others think about managing a marine wildlife sanctuary. A Marine Biologist is basically someone who studies, observes, protects, or manages marine organisms. In all honesty, I used to think Marine Biologists got to play with dolphins in shows. At least that is what the movie “Dolphin Tale” taught me. Little did I know that you could do so much more, but with a few more responsibilities.
Some Marine biologists are responsible for studying the animals in their natural habitats, assessing effects of environment and industry on animals, or interpreting findings. Marine biologists also provide advice to managers, politicians, primary producers, health care workers and the general public. Bureau of labor statistics, the future job outlook for a marine biologist, is expected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations . Competition is expected to be stronger for basic research positions and those who specialize in the research and development fields will continue to enjoy attractive job opportunities. Some similar occupations to a marine biologist is an Aquaculturist, researcher, marine illustrator, naturalist, environmental consultant, and a natural resource manager. Some qualities I have that I think would make me successful in this job are, I am patient, motivated, and I’m good at planning and organizing.
In conclusion, I think that the best suited occupation for me would be a Marine Biologist. I like to explore and find new things, and I am determined. I like to help and care for people, along with animals. I would really enjoy doing what I love every day. Being a Marine biologist would be an awesome job to have and I would be lucky to be one when I am
