Essay On Licensure Portability
Select an issue that you expect to impact your future practice opportunities. An issue that is central to my development is licensure portability. Serving the military from Korea has left some questions to which state I will return to once my tour of duty is over. Planning for licensure from different states has made me realize that many states have different licensure fee’s and requirements. Trying to take advantage of programs that have lower fee’s and less renewal requirements is difficult, because I am not guaranteed a duty assignment of choice when returning to the Untied States. Washington state, looks to most beneficial for reassignment and why portability is important to me. My goal is work again overseas in Korea, issues like license renewal and continued education become a factor when having to travel …show more content…
This will strengthen identity of the counselors who seek standardized training across states and the profession (Meyerhoeffer, 2014). Better unified state and federal professional standards will enable the advance of licensure portability, which currently effects mobility within the profession (Meyerhoeffer, 2014).
