The Lacrosse Ball
Sports have always played an important role in my life. Growing up my parents encouraged me and my brother to try a multitude of sports. From a very young age, my parents urged us to play what they categorized as a “life sports” along with team sports. In their eyes, a life sport is an activity you can play throughout your life. I continue to play golf, paddle tennis, tennis, and skiing today. During my elementary and middle school days I always wanted to be a part of a team, enjoying the comradery that came along with it. The sports I played included soccer, ice-hockey, lacrosse, and field-hockey. Eventually giving up soccer, I focused solely on stick sports. After much consideration, I decided to give lacrosse another chance if the opportunity presented itself. I hoped that a new program and different coach would be all I needed to enjoy lacrosse again. Surprisingly, I was right. Since coming to Babson I haven’t once questioned my decision to play lacrosse again. My relationship with the sport has changed from what it was at Colorado, back to holding a positive role in my life. Coming to a new school is never easy, but lacrosse helped the transition a great deal. I immediately had a group of girls that I now call my closest friends at Babson. Now, I am midseason and extremely happy with my contribution to the program along with what the program has done for me. I have the fortune to see my parents after many of my lacrosse games. The ones they can’t attend, my Dad tunes into the live feed, following the game online. After every game he texts me his thoughts on the game, ultimately showing me how much he cares about what is important to me. Again, showing how the sport of lacrosse has brought my family together. My mom said after my last game, “I’m happy to finally see you love lacrosse again.” She is right, I am happy to be playing the sport that has held such an important role in my life growing
