The culture of violence affects America. The neoliberal logic of a gun culture atomizes individuals, and has historically abrogated their roles as common citizens. The gun rights lobby has perpetuated an ableist discourse to shift responsibility away from the gun culture. It is not messed up people that will kill with guns, but guns that and a reasoning system that tells people to deal with their own problems that kills. It is guns that perpetuate the pick yourself up by the bootstrap logic, that forces people into a situation where they kill people for a nationalistic culture. Pick up your guns and serve your country. The extrajudicial killings of black and brown bodies in the Middle East stem from a culture of violence. That is not “freedom”, that is oppression. Chicago’s murder problem comes distinctively from gun violence. [source 3 and 4]. Although these specific studies are not complete case studies, because these studies are flawed, they only talk about one statistic in a vacuum. Violence is a cultural problem, a study of the specific gun culture is necessary to stop the problem at its roots. Studies and so called empirical data sets from the NRA do not prove a correlation, but rather cherry pick and manipulate certain sets of data. NRA esque propaganda organizations choose segregated areas of cities in their case studies and say that black on black crimes, means that only black people kill each other [source 6]. This is an example of the gun lobby manipulating data to perpetuate the myth of safe guns. In areas that have been ostracized by the rest of society to live in a never ending prison industrial complex, easy access to gun perpetuate a culture of violence. It seems like the only way to get out of the prison system, is shifted to violent
