For example, what may be true for Euclidean Geometry may not be true for Spherical or Hyperbolic Geometry. Many instances exist where something is true for one or two geometries but not the other geometry. However, sometimes a property is true for all three geometries. In order for a human to learn something, all that person has to do is experience it during their lifetime. This means that everyone has the capacity to learn, they just need to be taught. Descartes reasons that Geometry is more certain than Astronomy because it “scarcely inquire(s) whether or not these are really existent, contain somewhat that is certain and indubitable” (Descrates). Descartes is stating that Geometry and the sciences like it focus on things that are certain and indisputable, such as two plus two equals four, while astronomy focuses on things that have uncertainty and can be disputed about.
