Do dogs differ in personalities, and if so, how? I have been around a multitude of dogs in my life, and I have seen that they do indeed have different personalities compared to one another. Some dogs may act similar, but I think that all dogs have at least a little variation in their personality, which gives them individuality and makes them unique and special to each and every one of us. There can be different factors that contribute to why a dog has its certain personality traits, but between my two dogs, Diva and Lucy, Diva is overall more assertive than Lucy in her actions and current personality. She is a Japanese Chin that my mom and I have had for about four years now. Lucy is very quiet, even to the point where you could call her sneaky. My mom and I could not even get her to bark at all until recently. Compared to Diva, Lucy has the more passive personality. She is very nice and will let you do just about anything to her without getting upset as far as the grooming situation goes. She enjoys getting her hair brushed and be blow-dried after having a bath. She would be an easy dog to groom at the groomer’s and does not even give them any problem with cutting her nails. Lucy is younger than Diva and is very energetic at times which may be from her youth, but she loves to play with others and she loves to get attention as well. She does not really play with chew toys, but she likes interactively playing with my mom and me where she might even walk on her hind legs and let one of us walk her down the hall. Lucy has a more relaxed personality than Diva, but I still love them both the same. In summary, Diva and Lucy are very different in their personalities but they still have some things in common. They both enjoy eating food and snacks, taking long naps, and sometimes playing and spending time with my mom and I. Even though they do have things in common they are still individually unique, and they both mean a lot to my mom and I because we do truly love them like they are a part of our
