Essay On Conjoined Twins
One out of every 500,000 twins are conjoined twins (Spencer). But for Chang & Eng unfortunately “fate had smiled,” (Spencer). They had a remarkable life after being conjoined twins during their early, middle and later years. During these years they learned to do many things.
During their early years Chang & Eng had learned remarkably how to do household things as well as other things like walking,running, jumping, swimming and other household items. It is remarkable that they learned these things together. Due to their financial status in their family, for money they had jobs at the age of 10 to support their family. So they became merchants. The twins learned many things as regular children. Chang & Eng Bunker continued to support their family as they joined the circus. The conjoined twins quit the circus due to their treatment “like second-class citizens by their managers,” (Spencer). They left the circus and started their own business. They got married to Adelaide and Sarah Yates and gave birth to 2 children. None of their children were born conjoined like the Bunker Twins. Although 2 of Chang’s children were deaf. Very few people have had a life as hard as Chang & Eng. The Bunker Twins had a remarkable life based on the fact that they had 21 children who were not conjoined. Chang & Eng Bunker had a hard life that very few have had the life that they have had. The twins have faced many challenges that make their life remarkable and have overcome many obstacles during their early, middle and later years. The Bunker’s finally chose to be separated but before that could happen Chang died of a severe blood clot. Then Eng died of panic. Studies show that if they had the technology we have now they could have lived at least 20 years more. Although they passed away the remarkable lives of Chang & Eng Bunker are still being studied today by many
