What is Childhood Poverty? What is Childhood poverty and what can be done to prevent it? Childhood poverty is almost always the effect of a cause that a child is having trouble with. This cause could be from something that is happening within the family like drugs, alcohol, and/or violence. It could also come from something the child was born with, such as a disability. Childhood poverty can affect a number of different categories in a child’s life, such as education and also brain development. Although it can’t be banished from the country completely, it’s important for people to be informed and take measures to prevent it.

Education and poverty compare closely. The better the education a person has, the higher their income will most likely be. Someone who has a poor education will most probable have a small income. Parents who give birth to children with disabilities are also likely to end up living in poverty. Although technology is allowing us to manage and prevent disabilities that threaten the quality of life for children, costs are still relatively great. Parents who can’t afford to keep up with all the medical treatment that their children need, sometimes resort to foster care for their children. This is a tremendously hard and unfortunate event in the lives of many, but occasionally this is the only choice parents see appropriate.
