Essay On Ancient Mesopotamia
In the very early days, before Christ, there were great, powerful empires. They built tall, beautiful buildings and temples. They rose to be the greatest empires ever. In my opinion, the best were the Ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians. They were different in many ways, but had their similarities. (Mrs. Welsh)
Ancient Egypt was very advanced for their age. They found new ways of technology including a writing system, many types of medicines and cures, toothbrush and toothpaste, and they built tall pyramids out of stone for the burial site of their kings and leaders, who were thought to be deities, or gods.According to the textbook, “Egypt invented many useful items we still use”. Ancient Egypt being 3,050 BC to 322 BC. They were wealthy and living very well for around 2,728 years. Mesopotamia was in power from 3,500 BC to 2,000 BC. This river valley ended in only 1,500 or so years. While these empires were in power, they were very great and astounding. (ancient.eu) These river valleys were both polytheistic, or believed in many gods. The difference lies in what they believed to be the gods. Ancient Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was a god that was sent down to rule over all of them. They also believed in the gods and goddesses were in control of the forces and elements of nature. Mesopotamia on the other hand, believed in Anu or An - the god of heaven and the sky, lord of constellations, and father of the gods. They also believed in Adad or Ishkur - god of storms, and Ashur Enlil - god of wind. (Ancient.eu) To conclude, Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia were different in many ways.
