On July 20, 1969, one small step won the most expensive race in history. On that day, Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon, and effectively beat the USSR in the space race. America has lead the world in advancements in every field, and is the beacon of hope in the world. From the Olympics, to peace keeping missions, the US is present, and a predominant force. The United States of America is the greatest nation in the world due to its military, economy, and determination. America has the mightiest war machine the world has ever seen. The United States has an arsenal of the deadliest weapons ever assembled as well. America has the most well trained standing army. and prides itself as being back to back World War champions. As Ian Bremmer, a published writer for Time, and Global Research Professor at New York University found, “The US accounts for 37% of global military spending, and spends more than four times what China, the world’s No. 2 spender, does on its military” (Bremmer). When the Middle East struck oil, the profits were invested in American banks. Brenner foud, “In 2012, Americans spent $370 million on pet costumes” (Bremmer). This astronomical figure spent on worthless items is absurd. It shows how lavish and blessed the American economy is. What makes this situation unique, is not that America is first, but how far second place is. With amber waves of grain, the Appalachian Mountains must look like endless dollar bills to foreign countries. Money is not everything, but it proves that the United States is a global
