I was introduced to computers at the age of 11 and working and playing with them remained a hobby throughout school. It was in high school that I first considered Computer Science as a career. To this end, I took the Joint
Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to the Indian Institutes of
Technology. Though my performance in the JEE was not entirely to my satisfaction, I did very well in my first year as an undergraduate and secured a change to the department of my choice.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay has taught me a lot besides Computer Science. A spirit of competitiveness has been the result of having some very intelligent people as classmates. Besides this, a close-knit batch and a number of group course projects have ensured the development of a spirit of teamwork. noindent
Coming back to Computer Science, my interest in the subject has grown with every year I have been here.
I have, over the past few months, tried to analyze my reasons for considering a career in research in the field of Computer Science. I believe the choice of research is due to a thrill in thinking what no-one has thought before, i.e., in working with ideas and in doing something creative. The liking for Computer Science comes from a deeper interest in Mathematics and in abstractions of reality (which is probably why I chose

There is controversy about using drug testing for welfare recipients to identify drug addict over states in the United States, and still there are many concerns, so just few states apply it. Still there are a lot of different opinions about it for instance Kasha Kelly, The Kansas state House representative, in Michelle Price’s “2012-2013 data shows only 12 test positive in Utah welfare drug screening” believes that checking people on public assistance for drugs would not only save money, they argue, but put welfare recipients on firmer footing when they get ready to enter the working world. But, Liz Schott, a welfare expert with center on Budget and Policy Priorities, in Alan Greenblatt’s “Should Welfare Recipients Get Drug Testing?” argues testing violated the constitutional ban against unreasonable search and seizure. In my opinion, California should test welfare applicants for drugs because it saves money, it helps abusers, and it is constitutional…

Watching movies about people having one day left to live or one day left on earth never seemed like something that could actually be realistic to me. As I wake up this morning I am just staring at the dusty fan propellers going around in circles. My wife has left me and taken our kids with her. Just as I have nothing more to live for, my job offers me a chance to make history. I work for NASA in a giant warehouse type of facility that is packed and busy. Perspiration is common in the facility; therefore there is a sour stench of mildew that automatically tickles your nose. I aggressively volunteered for an experiment to live on Mars to see how long someone can last without going crazy in outer space. If I could come back sane someday then I would be written up in history. This is my one chance of redemption.…

Its seems as if American culture is obsessed with sex. From music videos to commercials to teen movies: one cannot turn on his television without seeing a scantily clad woman or two people engaging in some type of foreplay. Even on game shows there is commonly a female co-host who wears next to nothing. Moreover, besides a pornographic movie or a special on HBO, one can find more than enough sex in a teen movie. These films contain teenage sex symbols who cannot act more than the "common man." Yet, it seems as if these movies are quite popular. They more often than not reach the rank of top selling movie at the box-office. Their success illustrates much about our society- we want to see sex and cannot get enough.…

Justice is said to be the act of being just and fair. However, justice is defined less by words and more implicitly by the work and actions of those that strive for it, and the hardships they undergo to attain the aforementioned justice. History has shown to us that the path of true justice is paved by true sacrifice. In consequence, it is very true that achieving justice often comes at a price. Illustrated in real life tales from these three masterpieces ; ‘The Kite Runner’ by Khaled Hosseini, ‘Rabbit-Proof Fence’ directed by Phillip Noyce and ‘Half the Sky’ by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the evidences and confirmations of justice achieved at a price is manifold.…

It was just as he remembered it. Once upon a time there was a deer who had surprisingly grown a single horn on its forehead. He was quite unaware of this matter. But he knew that the other animals always gave him an icy stare when they saw him. They left him high and dry in jungle. He felt blue most of the time and looked like he has the weight of world on his shoulder, because he was so lonely. He decided to go it alone and went into the middle of the jungle where most of the animals live. He tried to be friend with them and wanted to talk to them, but they all turned their backs on him, even the other deer. Now that the cards stacked against him, he took the bull by the horns and went to the owl to talk to him about his problems and get them off his chest. The owl seemed more friendly. The deer asked him why is it that everybody gave him the cold shoulder and run away from him. Is it because that he seems scary? The owl tried not to tell him directly what was wrong with him. He suggested him to take it easy and go near the lake where there is a beautiful creature he has never seen before and that he knows the answer. He is called “the Unicorn”. Through the way he was thinking about that exceptional creature. “What kind of creature would it be like? would he be the cream of the crop of the jungle? I got to keep a civil tongue when I am talking to him. But I should also look him in the eye and tell it like it is. As he was going to the river, he saw the lion. At first the lion ran away from him. The deer begged him to stay and surprisingly the lion who has a heart of stone, this time his heart went out to him. “have you seen a creature called the unicorn in the jungle so far?” The deer asked. “Yes, sure. I always see him. He is the most beautiful creature in the jungle. I always have a deer for my supper, but I dare not to hunt him because he is so unique. The other animals always try to look at him secretly, so that he can not understand they are watching him.” the lion answered. This…
