Essay: Can Money Dont Buy Happiness?
As said in the bible, “My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19. Money does not buy your happiness. Experiences make you happy, not how much cash you have. Buy experiences not objects. Money makes you happy to a point, but what about after? Eventually all of that money will run out and then where would you be?
I believe that money can’t buy happiness. Money can buy experiences and the experiences are what make us happy. A lot of people believe that money can buy extravagant objects, like fancy cars or a big house, and that’s what makes us happy. To me that will make you happy, but to an extent. When I put my vote in, the results came to the conclusion of 49% said yes, where 51% said no money does not buy happiness. David Futrelle said in Can Money Buy Happiness, “More money can lead to more stress.” I believe that this is a true statement. When you have a lot of money, everyone seems to want some from you. David did a study about happiness with the income levels. In 1957, 35% were happy when they had an income of $10,171. When 1980 came around, 34% of people were happy when they had an income of $17,931. The last study took place in 2004, 34% of people were happy when they had an income of $27,237. This study concluded that even though the income was increasing, the amount of happiness stays about the same, stating that money cannot buy happiness.
Can Money Buy Us Happiness talks about what money is buying. The first that the article said was money can’t buy us, the reason being that you buy experiences, not things. They made the argument how some brand name products makes us happier for a short amount of time. Another point that this article made was buying something for someone else will make you happier.
