Essay APCC 2
Essay theme: “How has the APCC changed your life? How can you contribute to the APCC in achieving its vision?”
Writer: Van Truc Thi Nguyen _ JAs 2008 Vietnam.
During our lifetime, we can go many where, from which we can gain a lot of experiences and memories for ourselves. Asian Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC) is what has turned my book of life into a new page. And I believe that anyone who once became a JA of APCC will have a novel life after coming back from Fukuoka.
To begin with, APCC has given me a great chance to have new experiences. I still remember the day when I was just a little girl at the age of 10, when we-all of the JAs 2008 were too young to have a full awareness. APCC gave me so many the so-call first time. That was the first time I had spent so many days in another country without parents, the first time I had stayed with many friends from all over the world as a happy family, the first time I had eaten delicious traditional food from Japan, the first time I had stayed with a hostfamily as a member, the first time I had introduced traditional dance, food to the world, especially Japanese, the first time I had been fully conscious of the importance of peace and the friendliness of Japanese. Before coming to APCC, those things only existed in my dream and APCC has made it come true.
Besides, APCC has changed my attitude toward life. During the time in Fukuoka, I felt vividly the love of friends from over the globe, I was fully aware of how wonderful the peace is. I saw that the life will be better and happier if everyone in the world treats each other as their relatives. And I knew that I have to do something to help change the world. Since then, I have thought of things in a positive way. The little girl became more confident and thoughtful. I have tried to keep in touch with my APCC friends, my hostfamily to keep the relationship firmer, further keep the peace among countries. The peace not only means there is no war or intension among

I got the idea because my cousin and I were playing a game where you had to multitask. So that’s how I came up with the idea. I thought that the kids would be the best at multitasking because since all the kids are still in school they might know more. I conducted the experiment by first gathering my subjects and my materials. Then I explained to all of my subject what they were going to do, I started the experiment and wrote everything they did during the test. Finally wrote all the data on the data table. The result was adults were the best at…

Just as the AP course positively impacted me, with the assistance of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, I know I can have the same impact on the University of Louisville community. At the University of Louisville, I hope to earn my degree in chemical engineering. I do understand that this degree requires a lot of knowledge about mathematics. Because I was able to overcome difficult academic situations in high schools, I know I am better prepared to deal with these challenges in college. Furthermore, my experiences of struggling in my AP courses have helped me become more sympathetic to my peers. If I see one of my peers struggling, I will provide assistance to them because I know how hard it is to ask for help. By working with my peers, we can ultimately develop a friendship inside and outside the classroom. By developing these relationships, we can learn from one another. While I cannot change my peers’ perspectives about certain issues, I can introduce them to a new perspective, my perspective. By introducing my peers to my perspective, I have helped them become more self-aware as they can do the same for me. In essence, by attending the University of Louisville, I know I can uphold the University’s mission by improving my peers’ lives by sharing my own lived experiences in classrooms. By sharing my narrative and experiences, I know I will create a more diverse…

I strongly believe that the key to world reform is self-reform. By attending the University of Colorado, I hope to attain a strong education that will help me achieve significant reforms that in turn will let me help others. Currently, I am a freshman majoring in chemical engineering and pre-medicine. When I graduate from CU, I plan to further my studies in medical school or perhaps dental school. More importantly, I wish to set a good example for others to follow through my hard work and determination. In receiving my acceptance letter during my senior year, I immediately decided that the University of Colorado would be the school of my choice. By making that decision, I also made a commitment to make the University of Colorado a better…

Police Brutality has become a serious topic in today’s time being that every time you turn on the TV you see them mention another act of violence from the police and since that were in 2015, cellphone cameras are being used to capture every single second of it, so it won’t become he say, she say evidence. According to Salem Press Encyclopedia, police brutality is abuses of authority that amount to serious and divisive human rights violations involving the excessive use of force that may occur in the apprehension or retention of civilians. Police brutality has become the issue of today’s time with civilians of this country; recent examples of police brutality are Eric Garner, Freddie gray, Sean Bell and it’s sad that’s there even more incidents. Police has been advised that some shootings are unjustified and wrong but they find a loophole, finding the victim to be wrong instead of the police officer. Most of the time it has been minorities that have been the victim in these incidents, and that is why police and minority groups have been having major conflicts that effects the country. I agree with this article that police brutality is a major issue and I believe that it’s wrong and need to be put to an end.…

Last December 20-21, 2013 we conducted a community immersion in Barangay 8a Upper Madapo hills Davao City. At first, I was very iffy about attending immersion. I didn’t see the entire point of attending something that didn’t seem to mean much to me, But as the days wore on during my immersion, I came to realize how blessed I was in life, how blessed I was to have grown up in such a safe and warm environment. With a loving family, and enough money to support my daily needs and education. During my immersion, I got to meet children who were only a few years younger than me, but who have endured much more in life than I ever have. They didn’t have the same resources that I have had to live a good lifestyle.…

The history of this long-established school provided an important life and academic basis for many distinguished and influential members of our society. The wide range of programs on offer and the leading academicians, who have created an inspiring learning atmosphere, make this university the place where I dream to continue my studies. I realize perfectly well that by completing my degree successfully I will not be able to solve any global issues, as I am certainly a dreamer, but I am also realist. However, I also feel that my degree will equip me with the necessary tools to pursue the realization of my idea.…

Last day of NSTP II. Before that all of us work so hard to prepare for our mini programme that held at Day-care Center in Magallanes St. Intamuros, Manila. Our section decided to give some children a gift from the bottom of our heart. A little gift that can make them happy even for just the couple of hours. I admit it’s not easy to prepare such things like that. Although our programme is not that stressful it’s take us to the bottom of our stress and tired mind. It’s not that easy to think, plan and decide on what and how we can make children happy. Yes we all know that children can be happy in easy way but what we want is the happiness we can see in their face not because of what things we gave to them. All we want is the happiness from their experience to be with us, to share their moment with us.…
