Equipment Responsibility in the Us. Army
Equipment Responsibility The United States army values soldiers that are responsibility for their actions and equipment. Being responsibility means being Dependable-arriving to work and appointments on time, keeping track of and control of equipment, meeting deadlines, being in the right place At the right time, doing the right thing at the right time. Without having accountability there is not knowing of where or in what shape your equipment is in and there for having a negative effect on a unit’s combat readiness. As a result of me leaving my TA-50 unsecured in the GCA lab I am now writing this essay for SFC Adams. Not only does this essay serve as corrective training, it also serves to reminds me of the importance of equipment responsibility. Without proper equipment responsibility If something were to happening spontaneously and you don\ 't have a clue where you weapon or sensitive items are, but then you really need them. You are in seroirs trouble.

The Army Values go hand and hand with equipment responsibility like so.
Loyalty: Bear true faith and allegiance to the United States Constitution, the army and one’s unit and your fellow soldiers. By having a proper sense of loyalty towards one’s unit then the unit should be able to depend on an service Member to have their equipment.

Duty: Fulfill you obligations. By fulfilling your obligations there can be no question of you having accountability of your TA-50. For it are ones duty to have accountability of your equipment. I am obligating by my contract with United States army to be ready to deploy anywhere in the world with all my TA-50 in 24 hours. And I am there for obligated to keep up with all my TA-50. How can I deploy in 24 hours if I have no clue where my TA-50 is.

Respect: Treat people as they should be treated. My fellow soldiers deserve only the best from their battle buddies and fellow soldiers, as I only accept the best from them. Being the army and

    Accountability in the army is important because soldiers as well as equipment, ammunition, food, water and other various supplies are vital to the operation and proper function of the army as a whole. Not only is accountability of equipment highly important but making sure all the equipment works how it is designed and intended to be used. Accountability of ammunition is important as well, if you are on a mission and not all of your soldiers have ammunition then it could cost the mission and lives. Keeping accountability of your soldiers, your soldiers equipment status, and ammunition status are very important to completing a mission successfully without any problems. Also keeping track of soldiers equipment as well as ammunition can help save the army funds to put to better use to help soldiers with retirement, their benefits, various programs and classes.     Seeing as responsibility and accountability go hand in hand, it only makes senses to first write on the importance of it and it's impact on military life. The moment a civilian raises their hand and swears the oath of the soldier they immediately become responsible for not only themselves but their fellow soldiers, their unit and many other things civilians are not accustomed to. When a recruit leaves for Basic Training they are responsible for arriving on time, having their paperwork, and being prepared for what waits ahead. Once a recruit goes through the in processing phase at their Basic Training Post they are issued their personal TA-50 or Table of Allowances 50. This includes the recruit's uniforms, load bearing equipment (such as the Load Bearing Vest, the MOLLE or ALICE rucksack, their eye protection, ear plugs, Nuclear Biological and Chemical suit and a plethora other items.) After arriving at their Basic Training unit the recruit is then issued, and accountable for, their personal weapon and chemical mask.     Why is accountability important to the Army? Accountability is a very important part of an enlisted and a Non-commissioned Officer's (NCO) job. The enlisted soldier is responsible for all items issued to him or her such as a weapon, Night Vision Goggles (NVG’s), clothing, a vehicle, a field manual (FM), medication, or Basic Initial Issue (BII). The NCO's responsibility is to make sure that the soldier is accountable for such items and can retrieve those items when needed, so that he can report it to his higher command. Accountability also includes the most important piece of equipment the soldier him or herself. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong especially in combat, that is why the soldier should make sure the team leader or squad leader knows where his or her equipment is at all times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and other personal effects for soldiers, so the Army expects soldiers to know where their equipment is located. Layouts performed periodically throughout each year take accountability of property assigned to both units, companies and to each soldier. The hand receipts for these issued items goes to the highest officer to the lowest enlisted personal in the chain-of-command and back up again. An NCO may spontaneously ask a soldier to produce an Army issued item in order to test the soldier’s ability to locate that item in a timely manner.
