It seems as though almost all popular articles written about Epagogix can be found under the company’s News/Media tab, including articles in languages other than English. I also emailed Epagogix in an effort to obtain comparative information on films for which they predicted box office receipts and what those films actually grossed, but they said they couldn’t share that information with me, because it was “confidential.” My respondent, Jay, from Epagogix’s Info Team UK, added: “We can’t reveal very much client activity, and we do not wish to reveal information that may be of use to potential competitors.”5

Its name is derived from the Greek word “epagogue,” which is the path that leads from experience to knowledge and is based on Aristotle’s “epagogic” pedagogy – a form of teaching that proceeds from examples to an understanding of causes,6 i.e., inductive
