The Navy Junior Reserve Training Corps is a leadership program designed to teach students self-discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills in order for them to successfully meet life’s challenges along the road. People who are successful in life, who succeed in business, industry, and education, have developed strong self-discipline and the ability to lead and motivate others. These characteristics that had been instilled in cadets by ROTC, which are a tremendous companion to any basic liberal arts education and prepared every cadet well enough for any military career, or for that matter, any career the cadet might have chosen.
The ROTC cadet uniform is, with certain exceptions, the same uniform worn by active duty personnel. This uniform is the distinctive dress of a proud and honorable profession. Each cadet must consistently be aware of his/her responsibility for maintaining his/her uniform in good order and wearing it correctly. Each member of the ROTC program must maintain high standards of dress and personal appearance. The need for personal cleanliness, safety, and proper wear of the uniform on the part of all members requires that certain minimum standards be established. Uniforms must be kept clean, neat, correct in design and specification, and in good condition.
It is not only an honor but also provides leadership training while you’re still in school. Through NROTC, you enter the Navy while you’re still in school but you still get to live the life of a normal high school student. Your uniform is a huge part of your commitment while you’re in the program. Activities such as having your uniform in an outstanding condition will help prepare you for your future role as a leader and a Navy Officer.
