1. Changing from Abs/ sec to Abs/ mins
0.0003 Abs/ sec ( 60 sec / 1 minute ) = 0.018 Abs/ min 2. Changing from Abs/ min to M/ min (Beers-Lambert Law) C= A / El = 0.018 Abs/ min / (8800 M-1 cm -1) (1 cm) = 2.0 x 10-6 M/ min 3. Changing from M/min to mols /min = M/ min x Vol of cuvette = 2.00 x 10-6 M/ min (1050 ul / 1.0 x 106 L ) = 2.10 x 10-9 Mols/min 4. Changing from Mols/ min to umol/ min = 2.10x 10-9 Mols/min x (1.0 x 10 6 )= 2.1x10-3 umol/ min

Average Catalytic rate: 1.704-0.111abs/10-0min = 0.159 abs/min
As the table above shows, the average catalytic rates for each interval are not the same. The reaction occurs every second which means that, by the time that the enzyme was added to the substrate, it starts converting to product. Thus, when the interval takes longer (10s, 15 s and 30 s) the substrate in the reaction will get

The enzyme’s rate did change over time. This compares to a real enzyme because an enzyme’s job is to speed up the reactions and as time allotted. That did happen since the enzyme in our lab was able to make more chainobeads as time progressed.…

The enzyme peroxidase has been shown to break down H2O2. Enzymes are known to increase the rate at which a chemical reaction occurs. We looked at factors that affected the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. These effects are the different temperatures and pH levels the enzymes were placed in. We found that the optimum, or best condition, temperature for the enzymes tested was about 22 degrees Celsius. The optimum pH level for the enzyme was 7.…

    1) The purpose of this lab was to determine the rate of enzyme activity under variety of different conditions, such as, different amount of drops of enzymes and different temperature of water. The class measured the pressure in the test tube during the reaction of the substance with, 1.5 ml of H2O2, 1.5ml of H2O and different amounts of enzyme drops, to determine how much oxygen gas is produced during the reaction since the pressure of the test tube will get higher as more oxygen gas is accumulated during the reaction.…

This experiment is to study and measure the enzyme activity of β-galactosidase in the different concentrations of o-Nitrophenylgalactoside (ONPG) using a spectrophotometer. The spectrophotometer was also set at 420nm, a wavelength which is best for recording the absorbance values for the experiment. From the results, 0.9mM ONPG solution has the highest absorbance and 0.1mM ONPG solution has the least. Also, 0.5mM ONPG solution has the highest rate of enzyme activity and it is the most efficient as the enzyme activity of the ONPG solution continues even though the other concentrations of ONPG solution has already stopped the enzymatic reactions as the substrate is already used up.…

In the first part of the enzyme lab, we mixed a substrate and an indicator with an enzyme. There was also a neutral buffer in each of the chemical mixtures. The neutral buffer regulated the pH to around 7. We got a color palette and once we mixed each together, we observed and saw a change in the color of the substance. The darker and more brown the substance got, the more oxygen produced by the reaction. Our results showed that amount of oxygen produced increased about 10% a minute until it sort of equilibrated at 4 minutes and didn’t change to the fifth minute mark. If we were to change anything we did in the experiment, we would make our comparisons to the chart more precise. Overall we thought it was successful.…
