Environmental Sustainability Study
What cultural, economic, and/or political influences throughout their lifetimes have led Boomers to promote environmental sustainability? The elderly population encourages younger generations (Generation Zero) to vote and state the importance of voting as well as the void actions if they don't. Older people have the patience to listen as well as be heard. Older people encourage and state that there is no reason not to vote, even from one whom is bed bound. The elderly population vote on issues that affect them such as Social Security, Medicare and home health care. Seniors lead by example. Seniors listen to issues in every aspect: radio, word of mouth, newsletters, newspapers, fliers, Facebook, Twitter, news, televisions and in meetings. When seniors believe in a cause they are faithful in supporting an issue or an individual running. Activist groups are a group of individuals that chose to be personally hands on standing up for a cause or an issue. Activist groups protest, rally and let the community know that this issue is unfair and want society to make it right. Advocacy groups supports the system by bringing the community together by having petitions and going to the state capital to address issues that is effecting the community and want immediate change. Their words form into action, motivation, encouragement- actions that makes a difference.in their age category and for younger generations. Senior's words and actions inspired others to think make a change in their community and within themselves. The Gray Panthers founded in 1972 as a multi-age activist group. The Gray Panthers protest through public rallies to make their points across.
