Environmental Issues
Environmental Issues Environmental issues are indeed everyone’s concern. There have been a lot of efforts being put by the parties who are interested and concerned to limit the damage done to the environment around the world as well as to raise public awareness around the world. There are three major factors which contribute to the pollution in my city. These factors include the industrialization which is currently taking place, the development of the new townships in and around the city as well as the growing numbers of automobile in the city. Manufacturing industry is one of the economic backbones in my city and these have been many foreign corporations setting up their manufacturing plants in my city since 1970’s. Lately, foreign companies still keep on setting up manufacturing plants, leading to increase of the factories in the city. While these factories are beneficial to the economic development of the city in the sense that they create job opportunities to the people and also reinforce the supply chain in terms of trade, this, however, has created certain environmental issues within the city. Some companies who own the factories do not handle and dispose the industrial of chemical waste properly. This has resulted in the water pollution, particularly the pollution to the seas as my city is an island, as they simply channeled the wastes from the factories directly into the waters, instead of managing the wastes first before disposing them afterwards. By doing so, these companies are able to save a significant amount of the operation costs. As mentioned earlier, the setting up of the factories has created job opportunities in my city. As a consequence, the influx of the immigrants from other places is inevitable. This has subsequently resulted in the demand for the property and this is where the property developers are building up the new townships in area around the city to meet the market demand. Environmental issues arise when the irresponsible and money-seeking property developers are developing and building new townships without proper planning prior and without having due regard to the surrounding environments in the building site. In order to save costs, they would just chop down the greens or, to a certain extent, reclaim the sea in order to build their projects, instead of putting more money into buying lands from the owners in which that would cost the developers more. As a result, the “green lungs” of the city are slowly being chopped down by the property developers for the purpose of developing and building new townships. Hills, trees and grass fields are slowly decreased in numbers within the city. Besides that, the seabed in the shallow waters is suffering from damage as well due to the sea reclamation for the purpose of building up new townships. As a subsequence, the habitat in the seabed would face possible extinction all thanks to the greedy developers who only look after their pockets and not the environment and the habitat in the seabed in the name of economic development. As the city is progressing and growing, the population is getting increasingly bigger. As a result, the numbers of the cars are growing while this may reflect that the city is moving forward and is getting more prosperous, however, has a negative effect on the environment. Cars produce carbon gas and the carbon gas is bad to our atmosphere. In that regard, the air pollution is getting worsened in my city due to large numbers of automobiles producing large amount of carbon gas all the time. Others factors of environmental pollution would derive from the societal issues. One major issue is due to the fact the law public awareness among the commoners. With law awareness, they would simply throw the rubbish everywhere. Improper disposed of rubbish that contains non-recyclable materials would cause pollutions to the environment whereby that would be an eyesore. One of the solution for the environmental issues that risen in my city is by the way of legal which means responsible party need to hold a public awareness campaign so that the people will realize that the importance of protecting our environment from pollution. Besides that, children needs to be instilled the knowledge since young. After that, for industrialization issue, relevant governmental authorities in charge should require the industries to dispose of the waste proper in a green manner. Then, for the second issue, proper planning should be required for development of township and the numbers of tress chopped down will be required to be replaced and replanted after the township has been built. The solution for growing numbers of the automobiles is to build more public transportation for the convenient of the public. The public transport should be efficient in terms of energy, safety and comfortably. With this, public will use public transport more often and at the same time reduce the rate of air pollution in my city. As a conclusion, governments, individuals and party that responsible must play their part in looking after the environment as environmental issues are everyone’s concern. With this, individuals can live a healthy lifestyle in my city.

Throughout the world there are various types of pollution that interfere with the quality of life for all living creatures and with the natural functioning of the earth 's ecological systems (Pollutionissues n.d.). Although some environmental pollution is a result of natural causes, most pollution is caused by human activities (Pollutionissues n.d.). With time goes by, the environment face more and more serious challenges that caused by human activity, such as industries activity and commercial activity (Shaw et al. 2013, p312-315). Ecological Issues

In this day and age, we are facing (and denying/ignoring) many ecological issues. Many people say that these issues aren’t really there and that everyone is being dramatic about it. Every century, the United States alone rises 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit. That may not seem like a big deal but just that little bit is concerning and just might cause our world to go downhill. As our temperatures rise, so do the oceans. According to geology.com, if our sea level were to rise just a mere seven meters, big cities in the U.S. such as Miami, San Francisco, and Seattle would begin to flood. Every year, our temperatures are rising. The record for hottest summer has been yet again broken in many places due to these temperature rises. There are many other ecological issues that are currently occurring, such as biological diversity. There are most likely millions of undiscovered organisms that are being killed due to the selfishness of people building unneeded buildings, such as malls. Forests are being torn down to make room for people’s desires for new technology. Even though it is a good thing that we are diving deeper into different ways of using technology, we are also irreversibly taking away organisms that could benefit us in ways people didn’t know were possible. Unfortunately, many people don’t take these issues as seriously as they should. There are many misconceptions about these issues, like the fact that it isn’t happening or isn’t a big deal, that cause people to dismiss them and go on with their daily life activities. As they do this, they are only digging this world deeper into a hole that can’t be fixed. On the bright side, if we start now, we can reverse the damaging effects that have happened and create a better tomorrow. As stated before, the main two earth endangering problems are climate change and ecological biodiversity.…

There are environmental issues in every state in these United States of America along with every other country on this earth. I live in Hot Springs, Arkansas better known as Hot Springs National Park, it surrounds the north end of the city of Hot Springs with a population of 33,000 and though we don’t have too many environmental issues due to the fact that we are in a natural state and we try to preserve all of the natural resources that we can, we still face environmental issues because everyone can’t be forced to do their part to protect the environment and although some park boundaries are bordered by undeveloped forested lands, much of the park is adjacent to city streets and homes. The environmental issues that we are facing in Hot Springs, Arkansas is that these areas are subject to air pollution, trash dumping ,exotic plants, and animal species.…

    1. Coastal landscapes are being transformed as a consequence of the increasing demand for urban infrastructure to sustain commercial, residential and tourist activities. A variety of man-made structures, such as breakwaters, jetties and seawalls have thus become ubiquitous features of intertidal and shallow subtidal habitats. This transformation will accelerate in response to the exponential growth of human populations and to global changes, such as sea-level rise and increased frequency of extreme meteorological events (e.g. storms). Here, we provide a critical overview of the major ecological effects of increasing infrastructure to marine habitats, we identify future research directions for advancing our understanding of marine urban ecosystems and we highlight how alternative management options might mitigate their impacts.…
