Environmental Friendly Schools
The first thing that pops into my mind when I hear the word “environment” is “home”. Environment means the place you live, work, stay, study or spend time in any way. That’s our environment.
In life we fight and struggle to get the best out of it: well being, good life and health. The most important one is health, but to have health you must have a good place to live, meaning a good environment. How do we get this thing? The answer lies in Nature Protection. Now, Nature protection seems like something very general, but by protecting nature, we make a better environment for ourselves and therefore, we help protect and improve our health, a cause that even the most selfish person on earth can not oppose.
Environment starts from home, to school, streets, shops, bars, clubs etc. the biggest problem lies at public places like schools and streets. Lets analyze it step by step:
-We go out of the house and we are running late. Instead of driving to school why don’t we take the bike or public transportation? They’re cheaper and speaking long terms they are very good for your health as well.
-We are in our school yard and we get hungry. We take out a chocolate and unwrap it. Now instead of throwing the wrapping paper on the ground why don’t we put it in the garbage bin, or better yet throw it in separate garbage bins.
-we start the lesson. The sun is shining bright outside. Why should we close the curtains and turn on the lights, when we can easily let the sun do it’s job, and therefore save energy and also protect the environment.
-A bit later we get thirsty and we want to drink something. Instead of using plastic glasses, we should use eco-friendly paper ones, that can be recycled.
-On the way home we try something that tastes horrible so it makes us spit out in the street. Why do we spit, litter and pollute the streets when we take care of our homes yelling not to do this or that because the house and the furnitures have just been cleaned.
Do we have that lack of

Environment is the surroundings and influences upon things including humans. These are many things happening individually or all at once. E.g. Environment: we all refer to it through different definitions. Some call their vicinity and the air just around them their environment, while others call the atmosphere of their country the environment. In fact, our environment is everything that is around us: the living and non-living things together. With a lot of unnatural factors happening around us in terms of human intervention with the environment, our natural environment is depleting day by day. The natural resources such as water, land, air, etc. are getting affected by these activities from humans that are going on at a fast pace.…

From day to day, people most commonly use the term environment in the first, narrow sense—of a nonhuman or “natural” world apart from human society. This connotation is unfortunate, because it masks the very important fact that humans exist within the environment and are a part of nature. As one of many species of animals on Earth, we share with others the same dependence on a healthy functioning planet. The limitations of language make it all too easy to speak of “people and nature,” or “human society and the environment,” as though they are separate and do not interact. However, the fundamental insight of environmental science is that we are part of the natural world and that our interactions with other parts of it matter a great deal.…

This is probably the reason why the earth is being polluted with trash. Studies show that people litter because they do not feel responsible for public areas and that people usually litter outside of their neighborhoods where the trash becomes someone else’s problem. One example on how litter can affect the environment is that organic litter can cause water pollution and lead to algal blooms, and cigarettes could also start fires if they are not put out and then discarded in the environment. In Al Gore's speech he talks about how in 7 years the North Polar ice cap might “fall off a cliff.” This might happen in 7 years because of the Northern Hemisphere tilting away from the sun. This happened because of all the pollution and global warming we caused and because of our trash. So, people may argue and say one piece of trash on the ground doesn't really matter and that it’s okay to throw little pieces of trash on the floor but it’s not. Every little piece adds up and still causes damage on the environment. So think next time you're about to throw your candy wrapper in a nearby bush. Think about the consequences of that action and how it will affect the…

Each year, nearly forty percent of food is wasted in America. Per person, about one thousand four hundred calories are wasted each day (Hall, et al. 1). We turn up our noses at a bruised apple. At milk that’s a few days past its “sell by” date. At unappetizing overcooked broccoli. We dump out slightly wilted kale. Cans that have been dented on one side. Anything past its expiration date. We’re secure in our privilege, so we destroy food without a second thought. But with one in six Americans lacking a secure supply of food (Coleman-Jensen, et al. 12), this is clearly not a harmless habit. Food waste in America is detrimental to us all, and it’s critical that we resolve this problem.…

Did you know that America throws nearly half of their food causing $165 billion dollars yearly? (http://americamagazine.org/issue/5139/article/trash-talk) Food is being wasted while many families are suffering all around the world. Knowing this doesn’t stop us from throwing food away. A way that might help us reduce the waste of food would be to buy or make a certain amount of food that we know we will finish. This is one of the main reasons why I consider America as a throw away society. Food is not the only thing society affects; we are also affected with our actions and decisions.…
