Building Report
The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the world’s tallest skyscraper. The building is standing at over two thousand seven hundred and twenty two feet. The tower is the largest man made tower in the worlds history. Starting construction in late September of 2004 the outer structure was finished in October 2009. While the interior was finished on the fourth of January 2010. The building itself sits on steel and is built that way all the way to the top with the glass shaped to fit the whole building. They have used over four thousand tons of steel in the process. The tower itself has seventy three floors to accommodate its entire guest. To support the height of the building the engineers had made a new system called the buttressed core which uses a hexagonal core reinforced by three buttresses that form the y shape of the building. This structural system gives the humongousv building enough support itself angled and keeps it from twisting and flexing under all of the pressure. The 26,000 glass panels that were used in the exterior design of the building Burj Khalifa. Over three hundred specialists from China were brought in for the work on the tower. The sky lobbies on the forty third and seventy sixth floors hold the swimming pools. Burj Khalifa is designed to hold up to thirty five thousand people at any time! A total of fifty seven elevators and eight escalators are installed to carry all of the people from the bottom to top. The elevators have a capacity of twelve to fourteen people per ride the fastest rising and falling at up to ten meters per seconds. To wash the twenty four thousand windows totaling one hundred and twenty thousand meters of glass a horizontal track has been installed on the exterior of Burj Khalifa at levels forty, seventy three, and one hundred and nine. Each of the tracks holds a three thousand pound bucket machine which moves across the face of the building and then vertically using heavy cables built for all
