How to Become Independent Independence means to be able to live by oneself; either a country or an individual can become independent. To become independent is the goal of many people in our society today. There are many factors that can lead to an individual becoming independent, some which are; the individual’s state of mind, degree of consciousness, self-confidence, self-responsibility, the individual’s character, environment, determination and hard work, religion. Just to name a few. These factors are going to be reviewed in the following paragraphs. Firstly, being independent requires a state of mind of being focus and conscious; time and self-conscious. To be conscious simply means to be aware of the external world within oneself. You should always have a stable state of mind. There is always something to worry about and there are always going to be things to worry about, tension and fear. Learn to break the habit of procrastination and replace it with a habit of time consciousness and good planning. This is one of the characteristics of becoming independent but you should not these external situations decide on your state of mind, you should not be enslaved by your thoughts. Your state of mind also has to do with your mentality, how you think and react to situations. Critically, the way you were raised has a great impact on your mentality. If you were raised as a spoiled child, you will find difficulties in becoming independent because growing up, almost everything was being done for you. But if you were raised to be hard working, humble and honest, becoming independent would be an achievable goal.
