From the moment we wake up in the morning until the time we go to bed each night, we all use different forms of energy to perform our daily activities. On a daily basis I use energy for transportation to commute to and from work and run errands; for cooking meals using either my gas range, microwave or charcoal grill; for heating my home in the winter and cooling my home in the summer; for daily showering, and for lighting my home in order to be comfortable and productive. Most of the resources we rely on for energy are nonrenewable and will soon be depleted.…

This lesson started by stating the importance and multiple uses that we give electricity. This is the main (and only as far as I can tell) source of energy that our electrical devices need to work and give us all of the amenities that we have come to get used to. From electric lighting to TVs and microwaves, electrical appliances and electronic devices make us rely heavily on electricity. Electricity makes the alarm clock go off in the morning and provides us artificial light at night when there's no more day light. There are one hundred and one reasons to love how we manipulate electricity to power our electric devices, however, we have only a few ways that we can generate it. As any other form of energy, we are limited in its quantity. This has urged us to redesign our appliances and other electric devices to conserve it. From different types of electric lighting to efficient major appliances, our lesson talks about the efficiency factor in them and what the best choices are depending on this factor. Formulas were provided to calculate energy costs (in this case electricity) and determine efficiency.…

The use of energy drinks in the United States has increased more than the controversial consumption of regular sodas. According to Coca-Cola executives, profits from energy products since 2005 through 2008 will total $540 million, compared with $210 million for regular soft drinks, $130 million for bottled water and $290 million for sports drinks (Warner). So what is it about this drinks that make them more popular than our pure and vital water? The answer is very simple; our hectic lifestyles. Today’s society is filled with exhaustion and high stress levels; many people rely on energy drinks to give them that second wind, which helps them stay awake through a test, and even revive them for a party. According to Simmons Research, thirty-one percent of teenagers in the United States say they drink energy drinks on a regular basis. People use energy drinks to boost their energy so they can be able to perform better, but because energy drinks contain ingredients that harm the human body they should be banned all over the world.…

Energy is a source of usable power, such as petroleum or coal. Energy lights cities, powers our vehicles, warms homes, cooks food, plays music and powers machinery in factories. We use energy to do nearly everything that we do in our lives. China uses the most energy but has a very large population. The majority of the electricity we use is made from fossil fuels- coal, natural gas and oil. Some of the electricity we use is from nuclear fission power plants. The rest of the electricity comes from renewable sources such as hydroelectric plants, wind turbines and solar panels. An average person in the USA uses 600 times more energy than an average Ethiopian. The USA uses 80% of the energy China does but has a population a quarter of their size. The wealthier parts of the world generally use more energy than the poorer parts of the world. 1/3 of the world has no electricity.…
