INTRODUCTION.

This laboratory exercise has two aims. The first aim is to give students experience in the use of Altium to capture a circuit schematic. Altium is a very powerful electronics design tool that provides an integrated environment allowing complete CAD circuit capture, simulation, design rule checking and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout and development. In this laboratory you will gain familiarity with the following schematic capture concepts:

Setting up a PCB project within Altium.
Entering a circuit schematic.
Finding component libraries, and selecting individual parts within these libraries.
Wiring up the schematic and connecting power grounds, simulation sources and net labels. These laboratory instructions describe the tasks that you will need to carry out, but do not provide a detailed reference of Altium features and functions, and is not a help file for the program. To carry out the described tasks you will need to refer to the on-line help and tutorial files available within Altium in order to learn how to carry out specific tasks.
Laboratory demonstrators are also available to help you discover how to use Altium.
The second aim of this laboratory is to allow students to investigate circuit simulation using
Altium. Simulation is now a central aspect to modern
