Electromagnetic spectrum
Radios and microwaves both use radiation from the electromagnetic spectrum
Visible light can be split into a spectrum of colours .. from red through the rainbow colours to violet but visible light is just a small part of the whole electromagnetic spectrum
All the different types of electromagnetic waves travel at the same speed through a vacum .. the waves can be orderd by wave length remebered that waves with the shortest wave lengths have the highest frequency and the most energy and the waves with the lowest wavelengths have the longest frequency and the least energy

So if we go through the wavelength in size order .. at the begining of the spectrum is
GAMMA RADIATION .. gamma radiation cant be seen or felt , but it does pass through soft skin and tissue , and some of it is absorbed by cells. Gamma waves have a very high frequency and is used to sterilise surgical equipment , and can treat cancer but too much gamma radiation can actually causes cancer.
HIGH FREQUENCY
CANT BE SEEN
TOO MUCH CAN CAUSE CANCER.
Next on the wavelength is XRAYS .. they have a loinger wavelength that gamma radiation , xrays also cant be seen or felt but can pass through soft tissue like gamma rays but dont easily pass through metal or bone this is why theyre useful to ‘xray’ the bones in our bodies
LONGER WAVELENGTH
CANT BE SEEN
USED TO XRAY THE BONES IN OUR BODIES.
Next is ULTRAVIOLET radiation or better known as uv.. it is found naturally in sunlight and yet again we cant see or feel it but our skin responds to it by turning darker.. this is how we get a tan , its used in sunbeds secuirty pens Some chip shops use uv light ...
The lamp gives off UV (which you can't see) as well as violet light (which you can see).
The UV attracts insects, which are electrocuted by high-voltage wires near the lamp - so they won't land on the food and contaminate it.
USED FOR TANNING
FOUND NATURALLY IN SUNLIGHT

Next is VISABLE LIGHT .. all the light that we can see with

The way humans see colour is from the visible light spectrum hitting an object, some of the light goes through some is absorbed and some bounces back. We see the colour of the visible light spectrum which bounces back. Light is absorbed when it hits an electron which has the correct band gap to become excited by the energy level of that specific light photon. When the energy level in the photon drops so that none of the band gaps cover it then it can either pass through and get absorbed by electrons further into the matter or it will be reflected back.…

A common misconception among the public is that if they can not see visible damage to the skin than no damage has been done. The danger is not the sun light, it is the type of Ultra Violet Radiation (UV) light found in Artificial Tanning that causes the real damage. The Ultra Violet Rays used in tanning beds are concentrated radiation and penetrate deep into the skin; more so than natural sunlight (Upton, 2002). Although ultraviolet rays do have a purpose, according to the Indoor Tanning Association indoor tanning is an…

Light that is visible to the human eye is a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum which can vary in colour based on the wavelength of what is being seen at any particular time. This visible light has a primary function of causing electrons to become more active with higher energy rates. The colour that is seen revolves around the size of this portion which is noted as the wavelength. White light is a culmination of all colours which is the cause of it being the brightest. Furthermore, when the wavelength is larger, the energy that is being directed is spread out across a larger distance which explains why red light (700 nanometres) is often less visible then a blue or violet light (400nm).…

X-radiation (composed of X-rays) is a form of electromagnetic radiation. X-rays have a wavelength in the range of 0.01 to 10 nanometers, corresponding to frequencies in the range 30 petahertz to 30 exahertz (3×1016 Hz to 3×1019 Hz) and energies in the range 100 eV to 100 keV. The wavelengths are shorter than those of UV rays and longer than those of gamma rays. In many languages, X-radiation is called Röntgen radiation, after Wilhelm Röntgen, who is usually credited as its discoverer, and who had named it X-radiation to signify an unknown type of radiation.…
