Kill disbelievers: Sura 2:191. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

Permission for a Muslim man to beat his wife if she does not obey him: Sura 4:34: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and **beat them**; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

It seems to be the way they are, at least for the radicals. They seem to portray the "it's all about me" philosophy...They want respect, but they give none; They wonder why there is predudiceness against their religion, when they will tolerate no other; They say that there's is a peaceful religion, yet they promote killing in the name of Jihad, or any other little reason that would allow them to kill; they want to die a "noble" death by killing innocents, just so they can get the "heavenly goal" of having 99 virgins in afterlife...Boy, that's a noble cause...It seems that they kill for earthly pleasures that they will attain in the spiritual world, what a lofty goal...makes me want to be Muslim...Not!!! They seem to be wrapped up in the earthly pleasures that they will attain in afterlife, not spiritual ones...

Born in Badiraguato, Mexico, Joaquín Guzmán Loera entered the drug trade as a teenager. Nicknamed "El Chapo", he established the Sinaloa cartel in 1989, after some time building it into a tremendously gainful worldwide drug-trafficking operation. Known for his violent activities and powerful influence, Guzmán has effectively arranged daring escapes from maximum-security penitentiaries in his own country, he turned into Mexico's top drug kingpin in 2003 after the capture of his opponent Osiel Cárdenas of the Gulf Cartel, and is viewed as the "most dangerous drug trafficker on the planet" by the United States Department of the Treasury…

AL Qaeda is defined as a broad-based militant Islamist organization, and is considered to be- by the majority of society- the primary culprit of the 9/11 terror attacks. By inspecting Al Qaedas’ philosophy at its roots, its writings, and development, we can conclude that their approach can only be pronounced as destructive, not constructive. Al Qaeda interprets the Quran falsely, basing their ideology on principals such as the war they feel all Muslims must wage with ‘others’, regardless of whether the ‘others’ are fighters or peaceful civilians. Verse 16:82 of the Quran conveys the concept of tolerance and peace, stating: “But if they turn away from you, your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message”. This portrays the way in which Al Qaeda manipulates the Quran to justify their actions of terror- regarding their ‘duty’ as an act of violence rather than peace.…

The Tattooed Soldier, a novel written by Hector Tobar, tells a story of a Guatemalan immigrant by the name of Antonio Bernal, trying to make a new life in Los Angeles, California, but at the same time heal the wounds inflicted by painful memories of his murdered wife & son, Elena & Carlos. The worse of the memories is of the murderer, Sargento Guillermo Longoria, sitting on a bench eating ice-cream with a particular tattoo on his arm resembling a yellow jaguar. To escape the same fate that his family endured, Antonio got on a bus to America. Thinking this would be a kick-start to better things, an "All-American Dream" that was actually a nightmare. A bright, intelligent student back home in Guatemala city, he was reduced to an non-existent, incompetent being working remedial jobs to get by in the eyes of the affluent- the "Americanos" (pg. 10). In L.A especially, there was a lot of immigration coming from Guatemala. Common reasons for coming to America to live the "American Dream" was to escape poor sanitation, lack of economic opportunity, political instability & unnecessary persecution for being who you are. Life in Guatemala had harsher, permanent consequences compared to life in America. During this time frame,The 36-year war that engulfed Guatemala pitted the government against left-winged guerrilla groups. Imagine never really feeling comfortable in your own home, let alone in whatever type of environment you might be in, constantly looking over your shoulder to see if anybody is watching you, taking notes of your every move……. Antonio really didn't have to fear that in America, because here, he was invincible. In a place where optimism No one noticed or even cared who he was, the only thing that people thought when they looked at him was that he was "another homeless face" looking for free comfort. I see this a lot within…

One of the big strengths of Islam, of which I was previously unaware, is that it can be a religion of peace. Even while he was something of a religious zealot, the author was appalled at the horror of the 9/11 attacks on the United States, and could not see how these fit into his Muslim religion. He was not only appalled at the lives lost, but also at the claim that these acts were done for Allah. This is a feeling we share when, for example, a right-wing Christian shoots up a church or a movie theater and claims they did so for God. I believe that most religions encourage a culture of peace and harmony. But with our selfish natures, some people corrupt the message and use out-of-context…

The radical Islam message to the western world, the West, is chilling; Islam will dominate! Radical Islam is a religious ideology that stretches beyond a person practicing his beliefs alongside others of different religious beliefs. It stretches beyond spreading the word to others that will listen in an effort to convey their deep belief in their religion’s truthfulness. It stretches beyond voting for a representative that will politically fight to defend the moral doctrines of their religion. It stretches beyond all forms of co-existence with anyone who is not Muslim and even fellow moderate Muslims that will not adhere to its interpretation of Islam. Radical Islamist Americans will not be content until Islamic law, Shari ‘a, as stated in the Quran replaces the Bible, the Torah, and the Constitution. If violence must be used to achieve this, violence is used, and believed to be condoned by Allah.…

Throughout history, instances of religious groups turning to violence or being victimized for their religion have unfortunately occurred. The most prominent instance of this that immediately comes to mind for most is the Holocaust, where millions of Jews were killed by the Germans, led by Adolf Hitler (Kévorkian 8). Many have not been educated to the fact that there have been many other significant genocides within the last one hundred years based on religious violence, one being the Armenian Genocide (United 3). Although not so nearly well known as the Holocaust, this genocide was every bit as horrible. Looking in depth at the Armenian Genocide of 1915, one will see the gruesome and atrocious actions of the Ottoman Empire…
