Eike Batista in Depth Paper
Eike Batista
Eike Batista was born in the mining town of Governador Valadares, Brazil on November 3, 1956. The fact that he is the most successful business man in my home country drove me to do a deep research on his history and write this paper about him. Eike is a metallurgical engineer and entrepreneur, has business in various areas, but especially in the mining and oil field. In 2011 was listed by Forbes Magazine as the 8th richest person in the world with assets valued at 30 billion dollars, being the first among all the South American countries. At the end of 2010 to the same publication would position even as the 58th most powerful person in the world.
Eike is the son of the businessman Eliezer Batista, who was Minister of Mines and Energy and president of the company Vale do Rio Doce. His mother is German, a fact that led Eike to reside for 11 years in the European country during his teen years. However, even in college, Eike started his extremely successful career as an entrepreneur, selling insurance door to door in the city of Aachen.
After showing his already refined business vision, created a kind of trading where he sold foreign products in Europe and Africa. He then began his business as a broker in the diamonds trade, when he found sellers in the Amazon jungle and introduced them to European entrepreneurs. Eike partnered up with a known prospector in the Amazon, which allowed him to freely do business by the mines in the region in exchange for finding buyers for gold in Europe. Recognizing a good investment, Eike ended up buying mines, which earned him a net worth of $ 6 million at age 25. To do so, he asked, at age 22, shortly after leaving university, a loan of $ 500,000 to two jewelers, turning that into 6 million dollars in just one year. In the early '90s, when he had a considerable amount of mines,
