EFT and Tapping Psychology
Fear, depression, anxiety and stress are the most powerful negative energies known in psychology, and it’s very likely that majority of individuals on Earth experienced at least one of these emotions. Some of these blocks grow and fester so much within the lives of people that, because they develop into such impactful hindrances, they act as ever-growing obstacles that people should otherwise not have to dodge. They are extreme emotional stress factors that in turn affect the abilities and potentials of every victim of these complications.
Emotional Freedom Technique is a practice that instructs the individual to tap their body’s pressure points in the hands, wrists and face using their index and middle fingers. “It is designed to address the physiology of the body, and it releases mental, emotional, mechanical, and physical blocks, including range-of-motion-blocks- and it works quickly” (Psychothereapist Taps Into Clients’ Potential). It’s also well known as the do-it-yourself acupuncture technique without needles, and the kinetic energy used through the fingertips proves similarly effective when compared to the evasive puncture of needles. Many people are wary of the principles of EFT. “…the electromagnetic energy that flows throught the body and regulates our health is only recently becoming recognized in the West”(Basic Steps for your Emotional Freedom). On the other hand, these simple methods have been used in Indian, African, and Asian regions for thousands of years. However, it’s recorded that EFT has spread so rapidly due to its extreme success rate, and it’s being accepted by everyone with ease.
Stacey Vornbrock, a psychotherapist who founded the Scottsdale-based Breakthrough Performance, conducted a study on athletes and the blocks that prevented them from reaching their “peak level of performance”. By using EFT, it was shown that athletes improved in their performances, and this method is so effective because it’s easy, provides clear results,

    A study presented by Borkovec (1995) concluded similarities and distinctions made between anxious and non-anxious subjects. The study shows that worry produces motivation to get things accomplished, prepare for future events and/or avoid/prevent that future event from happening. The motivation is a potentially adaptive behavior created by the worry that subjects feel. Preparation and avoidance are only adaptive behavior if realistically the negative events that may occur are realistic. Worry has a useful purpose in anxious and non-anxious subjects.     Coping is a technique in which people use when dealing with stressful events. It is referred to anything that one might feel, think, and/or do in order to reduce stress. Because people cope differently, there are several different coping methods that people undergo based on what stressful event they have experienced. One particular coping method, meaning-focused coping, is ways that people find to accomplish the meaning of a stressful situation. When something tragic happens in one’s life, let’s say a house fire, one may look at it as if “everything happens for a reason” or even, “Material things can be replaced, but people cannot, so it’s good no one is hurt.” When dealing with the meaning-focused coping strategy, one decreases the stress by reframing the stress of being rejected. Psychologist, Susan Folkman, argues that people disregard the role that positive emotion plays in coping and reinstates our coping energy. Folkman and Lazarus introduced a stress coping model in 1984 and later on updated it. The initial model displayed an arrangement of activities following an event: Appraisal, Coping, Outcome, Emotion (Britton, 2009). In the model were two pathways from a threatening event that led to positive emotion; as the second pathway led to unfavorable distress.
