INTRODUCTION
Beyond the nuisance factor, mosquitoes are carriers, or vectors, for some of humanity’s most deadly illnesses, and they are considered as public enemy number one of the community. Mosquito-borne diseases cause millions of deaths worldwide every year with a disproportionate effect on children and the elderly in developing countries. There are more than 3,000 species of mosquitoes, but the members of three bear primary responsibility for the spread of human diseases. Anopheles mosquitoes are the only species known to carry malaria. Culex mosquitoes carry encephalitis, filariasis, and the West Nile virus. And Aedes mosquitoes, of which the voracious Asian tiger is a member, carry yellow fever, dengue, and encephalitis. The latest outbreak in the province, located around 400 kilometers (249 miles) south manila, has caused particular alarm because it began before the rainy season start in June, when mosquitoes are less plentiful. Dengue is spread by mosquitoes that breed in stagnant water and usually bite people during daytime. Dengue fever is recurring problem in the Philippines but while the number of incidents this year is slightly lower in nationwide, it has been spiking in certain areas. Nowadays commercial mosquito repellent sprays are being use for mosquitoes.it provides adequate protection against a host of mosquito-borne diseases, such as yellow fever, malaria, encephalitis, filariasis and dengue fever. But commercial mosquito repellent are chemical derived concentrations, so it has a side effects,

ABSTRACT: Background: The introduction of West Nile virus in Canada is changing the perception that mosquitoes are nothing more than nuisance pests. Interest is increasing in ways to protect against mosquitoes. One of the commonest is the use of insect repellents. Methods: Tests were undertaken to determine the effectiveness of three mosquito repellents: 95% DEET, Avon Skin So Soft bath oil, and a “special mixture” of substances thought to have insect repellent qualities. The repellents were compared with each other and against a placebo in eight separate test sessions. During each session, the three repellents and placebo were tested simultaneously. Each session lasted between 90 and 120 minutes. After every session, the repellents were thoroughly washed from the test site and a minimum of 72 hours elapsed between tests. There were four test sites: the author’s right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg. All test…

Yellow fever is found simply from parts of South America and Africa. This disease can only be carried by the female mosquitoes. There are two different cycles of the yellow fever: jungle yellow fever and urban yellow fever. Jungle yellow fever is primarily a sickness of monkeys. People can catch this disease by setting themselves in the central point of this innate cycle and are bitten by the mosquitoes that have been tainted by the monkeys. Jungle yellow fever is uncommon and only occurs generally to people who work in the jungle often. Urban yellow fever disease is a sickness of humans. It’s a spread from infected mosquitoes to other human beings. The urban yellow fever is the basis of most of the yellow fever epidemics and outbursts. Aedes aegypti is the type of mosquito that usually carries the yellow fever from one human to another. These types of mosquitoes breed close to human residences, like flower pots, useless tires, oil drums, and wet storage containers. This urban disease caused many mishaps to Napoleon’s troops at Haiti.…

Mosquitoes are well-known pests to the entire human race. Later in the 90s, they discovered that these arthropods are also carriers responsible for transmission of devastating diseases to mankind. They transmit diseases by feeding on blood from vertebrates, including us humans. As years gone by, many studied: the relationship between the mosquitoes and the diseases they carry; the possible ways of eliminating or preventing the spread by these diseases in areas observed to have a large number of victims.…

Dengue Fever is caused by one of the four closely related, but antigenically distinct, virus serotypes Dengue type 1, Dengue type 2, Dengue type 3, and Dengue type 4 of the genus Flavivirus and Chikungunya virus. Infection with one of these serotype provides immunity to only that serotype of life, to a person living in a Dengue-endemic area can have more than one Dengue infection during their lifetime. Dengue fever through the four different Dengue serotypes are maintained in the cycle which involves humans and Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquito through the transmission of the viruses to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. The mosquito becomes infected with the Dengue virus when it bites a person who has Dengue and after a week it can transmit the virus while biting a healthy person. Dengue cannot be transmitted or directly spread from person to person. Aedes aegypti is the most common aedes specie which is a domestic, day-biting mosquito that prefers to feed on humans.…

For the natural repellent with the most scientific backing, look to lemon eucalyptus oil, the sole natural ingredient to get the EPA’s (Environmental protection agency) endorsement. Numerous studies show that it works just as effectively as low levels of DEET (N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide) (7 percent to 15 percent concentrations) by masking the body’s natural odors. Look for a 30 percent to 40 percent concentration for maximum effectiveness.…
