22. A half-filled bucket of water is on a spring scale. Will the reading of the scale increase or remain the same if a fish is placed in the bucket? (Will your answer be different if the bucket is initially filled to the brim?) If no water flows over the bucket then the scale will read more, the original weight plus the fishes weight.…
When you do any type of experiments there are many ups and downs, many mistakes and faults. Our design was less than 100% successful because our measurements were inaccurate. If we redo our design we could make the base with the straws, and cup (which was 21 cm long) 6 to 7 cm longer. We could also fix the slide (which was 36 cm in total) by making it 6 to 7 cm longer as well. Our bridge needed a stronger base because it kept falling side to side. So we can put a couple more straws to each side of the cups and tape them all together. I am certain that if we redo our bridge we can succeed.…
The marble statue of Diadoumenos is a copy of the original bronze statue displaying a young man tying a fillet around his head. The original was created in c.a. 430 B.C. by a man called Polykleitos of Argos. Polykleitos was a Greek sculptor who worked during the mid-fifth century B.C. . he was one of the most famous artists of the ancient world. Polykleitos' figures are carefully designed with special attention to bodily proportions and stance. The statue of Diadoumenos has its thorax and pelvis tilt in opposite directions, setting up rythmic contrasts in the torso that create an impression of organic vitality. The position of the feet, (poised between walking and standing), give a sense of potential movement.…
In accordance to the mass for every variable, the time taken of the domino effect to be completed (1st hit to the 8th fall) will also differ. Therefore, the time taken of the domino effect will depend on the change of mass of the dominoes. A stopwatch will be utilized to record the time of the chain of falling dominoes.…
.Problem: How will the mass of a pendulum affect the amount of swings in a minute?…
Italian Marble is one of the most used marble for home decoration. Everyone wants the beautiful and the well decorative home. One of the largest importer of Italian marble is Italy. It is one of the most demanded marble around the world. It has more qualities than others such as long lasting or forever. It is the way to express the more creative and texture to our home. Italian marble is that kind of marble from where you can increase the beauty of homes through it's design.…
Procedures: Step one: The experimenters used the ruler to measure the diameter of the marble then recorded the measurement, along with an uncertainty, and then did the same with the…
My experiment did in fact support my hypothesis. Because I knew the paper towal was in fact lighter than the sand paper it help me see that it was in fact which one is more suited to fall first.…
My lab results were similar to my hypothesis. My hypothesis was that the densest object would be the rubber stopper. In the lab results the densest object was the penny and the rubber stopper was second. My hypothesis was switched. My hypothesis was correct when I stated that the macaroni was the third densest object. My hypothesis was also correct for the dice, but the bead and the dice share the same density. So they are both the fourth densest item. I was wrong with my hypothesis when I placed the popsicle stick third to last when it is actually second to last. For the last results the wooden ball was the least dense and my hypothesis was correct. The rubber stopper had a 47% error. A possible error was that the object was not measured correctly both on the scale and in the graduated cylinder.…
This experiment was conducted in order to use a parachute to reduce the collision force by decreasing the acceleration of which the water balloon is traveling causing it not to burst. When the balloon was dropped without a parachute the force of gravity was pulling it towards the ground therefore causing it to accelerating at such a fast rate that when it hit the ground the amount of force it hit the ground with was so great that the balloon popped. However when the balloon was dropped with a parachute, after deploying, it would provide wind resistance and therefore cause the balloon to decelerate causing it to move at a lower velocity causing it to hit the ground with a much lower force therefore causing it to supposably not pop. When discussing physics and parachutes Newtons three laws of motion must be considered. Newton’s first law of motion states, every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Newton’s second law of motion states, the relationship between an object's mass (m), its acceleration (a), and the applied force (F) is F = ma. Newton’s third and final law of motion states, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Before the experiment was conducted it was predicted that if a parachute that was round in shape was made the balloon would not pop as round shaped parachutes provide a lot of air resistance therefore causing the balloon to travel at a low velocity causing it to hit the ground with little force therefore the balloon would not pop. It was also predicted that if the parachute was made too close to the balloon the balloon would pop as there would not be enough air resistance to keep the balloon traveling at a slow enough velocity to keep it from popping.…
Christopher and Kate noticed that after a rainstorm some of the rocks in their yard appear to shrink. They wondered how the mass of the rocks changed when dissolved in water. To determine this, Kate purchased a variety of rocks from a local shop, carefully recording the types of rocks in a data chart. Christopher gathered rocks from the backyard to add to the rocks Kate purchased. They measured each rock's initial mass; then they inserted the rocks one by one into 100 milliliters of water and measured the mass of each rock after it had sat in the water for five minutes. Both Christopher and Kate concluded that store-bought rocks do not dissolve in water. They also concluded that to get rocks that dissolve in water they must be gathered directly from the yard.…
Due to the concepts presented, the researcher aims to examine how the string length and weight can affect…
The dominoes should be of the same mass; a domino with a large mass requires more force to topple than a domino with a small mass. Therefore, the time taken for all 50 dominoes to fall will be less for a smaller mass, giving us unfair value of time taken for all dominoes to fall. To ensure that they are of the same mass, we could use a mass balance to weigh each domino to determine if they are of equal mass (±0.1kg) and vernier calipers can be used to determine the height of each domino block.…
In order to create the bridge it was essential to come up with a design which would be the most suitable to sustain the highest load possible. After some research, it was concluded collectively that to make the spaghetti bridge the spaghettis were shaped in triangles as it would make the bridge more stable, rather than using squares. It was also decided that the triangles would be done in a taller manner.…
