INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM
CHARACTERISTICS : CHANGE FOR
A BETTER TOMORROW

Prepared & presented by :

B.Pharmacy 3rd year

ANCIENT INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM :
’GURUKULA & VISHWAVIDHYALAYA’

Gurukula System
: an important concept associated with pursuit of studies in ancient India.
Vishwavidhyalaya : ancient
Indian universities
Nalannda university
Taxashila
Kanchi
Ujjain
Subjects astronomy, mathematics, vedic literature , medicine etc.

CHANGE IN EDUCATION SYSTEM DUE TO BRITISH
IMPACT :
‘FROM MAHARSHI TO MACAULAY’
1835 Dominance of English language as a medium of employment and education
 Establishment of teachertraining schools for all levels of instruction.  led towards the nationalization of many universities
 Many advantages but one biggest loss :
Education lost its own esteem, and Indian touch

INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM :
‘POST INDEPENDENCE’

Strong central education

control

over

Guided by national goals, aspirations as embodied in Indian constitution 

National Policy on Education (NPE) was adopted

In 1949 a University Education
Commission was appointed under the chairmanship of Dr. S.
Radhakrishnan to study the problems of university education and to recommend remedial measures INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM :
PRESENT SCENARIO & CHARACTERISTICS

PRIVATE TUITION CLASSES :

‘ A CANCER IN THE BLOOD OF EDUCATION’

Impact on mainstream schooling(mainstream teachers may not need to work hard)

Impact on societies(richmiddle-poor difference in education) 

Economical impact on families

Psychological & physiological impact on student

ONLY EXAM ORIENTED STUDY :

‘THOUSANDS OF CHATURS OF INDIAN EDUCATION’

Bitter though the fact is, but it has to be accepted that recent
Indian education system is only exam oriented , we all have to
‘memorize’ the facts and
‘vomit’ it in the answer sheets.
Less practical approach
Hard work of 1 year(or 1 sem) checked in 5 min
Should test logical and analytical skills

According to the law of conservation of angular momentum if there is no unbalanced external torque acting on a rotating system, then the angular momentum of that system remains constant. This means that with no net change in external torque, the product of rotational inertia and rotational velocity at one time will be the same as at any other time. If the polar ice caps where to melt and the depth of the world’s oceans increased by 30m the mass of the polar ice caps would no longer be at the earth’s axis (poles) but more evenly distributed throughout globe. When the mass moves away from the axis of the earth (or any spinning object) the conservation of angular momentum causes the earths rotating to slow down thus days would be longer. How long it would be increased can be determined by using the equation for calculating angular momentum ? = (4/5?)?2 where r is the radius of the sphere(the radius of the earth is currently 6,367,500m but would be increased to 6367530m if the polar ice caps melting caused sea levels to rise 30m), T equals the length of a day which is approximately 86400 seconds. Using these numbers the new length of a day would be calculated by multiplying 63675302 (the estimated new radius of earth after the melting of the polar ice caps) by 86400 (approximate length of current earth day in seconds) and dividing this number by 63675002 (the current radius of the earth) which equals 86400.8 an increase in the length of the day by 0.8 seconds.…

Another category that some civilizations are divided into is based upon religion. In these next instances, religion has a remarkable hold over a member of the feudal system’s responsibilities and rights. Document 3, a charter of donation written in 854 C.E in the city of Winchester, is one of the first of three documents that mention religion in addition to the feudal system. It is also a primary source, meaning it is a first-hand account of something that was said (or done). The speaker in this document, “Athelwulf, king of the West-Saxons,” states that by the advice of his bishops and nobles, “thereof adopted the wholesome expedient of granting forever some portion of my kingdom to God and the holy Mary, and all saints….” This statement…

This is the first formal theory of aging and it was brought forward by Elaine Cumming and William Henry in 1961, and they looked at how society views older people. During their research they found that older people disengaged from society. They argue that older personnel withdraw from society, for example they stop working/retirement, they stop socialising, they feel that they are no longer needed by wider society, for example they younger generation, the wider society does not include family and friends, and that age is a number that represents what we can and cannot do. On reflection we can see that this view is flawed because it is very dated and does not show a true picture of today’s society and views. Also this view is the total opposite of the newer activity theory.…
