New Right theorists agree with Functionalists that industrial societies should ideally be organised as capitalist societies and that education systems should operate to meet the needs of capitalism but these New Right theorists also argued in the 1970s and 1980s that in practice state education systems were organised inefficiently and that both their formal and hidden curricula were not geared to meeting the needs of industry. New Right theorists argued therefore in favour of education policies which would enable effective schools to expand at the expense of ineffective schools as a means of improving overall standards, in favour of increased emphasis within the formal curriculum on the transmission of knowledge and skills specifically relevant to the needs of industry and commerce, and against " liberal progressive" social ideas and teaching methods. According to New Right theorists these reforms would enable formal education systems to fulfil their economic functions more effectively.…

Through the media in America, we are all constantly reminded of the enemies and conflicts that our nation has. As of late, the United States has been trying to spread democracy and peace to its Middle Eastern adversaries through the barrel of a gun. After reading Three Cups of Tea, it seems the only logical way to establish peace is through education. As Greg Mortenson demonstrated by overcoming adversity, the importance and spread education and schools is the way to achieve a lasting peace.…

The definition of Peace Education to my opinion is hard to make but one has to be precise to pinpoint within which context the definition originates. If we take the African context to my opinion Peace Education cannot disregard environmental Threats such as global warming, which has in the last years affected most parts of the world. To educate people about the causes of global warming and create strategies to minimize and eventually neutralized it’s deadly effects to man, animals and plants on this planet, can be a way to the achievement of economic growth, political stability and a healthy population living side by side peacefully among themselves and their neighbors. Peace Education should be used to teach people those cultural values and virtues, norms that are relevant and significant for the survival of mankind on this planet through peaceful co-existence. And that without peace there cannot be prosperity and this is only possible if there is that respect, acceptance, open-mindedness, and empathy for others who need help. Peace Education is a way of getting people to know more about the causes to these threats and how best they can be prevented. It is a question of human rights to know why they live in the state of fear permanently and with Peace Education people can be taught about these threats that can lead to violence and find strategies through peace education to prevent such to happen. To illustrate the effects of climate change, “the volcano eruption that took place this year in Island, affected farmers in Kenya who work in the agro-business industry by growing flowers for export to European countries. Most of these farmers were later forced to close their businesses because the Airplanes cannot fly to the destinations of the importing country in Europe. This small incident that happened in Island caused an immediate lost to the companies involved, who later forced their employees to stay home indefinitely. This was a…

Students/pupils will listen to you much more effectively outside in the world. I may say that I am correct! They are like dog tied to their kennel in a class room. It is almost an act of cruelty to force them to sit all day listening and not by talking. They should be engaged outside the room. The room should be where they drop their bags and come back to discuss what they have learn. That’s really a good idea, learning is not by sitting, and it’s all by experience. Yes, if you’re talking about a flower going out and looking at real ones is much more potent than a picture book or reading about it. The energy changes and they are engaged not switched off. They will listen to you much more effectively outside in the world.…

It is stated that schooling for 1 year can increase one person 's income up to 10%, and that is only with 1 year of education!. Education makes people healthier by arming them with knowledge that they can use in their daily lives to protect themselves with, so that they can know how to clean and take care of themselves better. It also saves more children because educated mothers know how to take care of their children better since babies are fragile and very hard to take care of and will decrease the children mortality rate.
