EDCI 1001 Purpose of Life
My Purpose In Life The literal meaning of the word “purpose” is “the reason for which something exists or is done, made, or used.” I believe my purpose is to follow the footsteps of the Lord. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic grade, middle, and high school. Both my parents are Catholic and I am very thankful for having a solid moral “ground” for which I was able to grow on. I went to Christian camp for 9 years growing up and it was there that I really found my purpose in life. Surrounded by young adults as my counselors and mentors, I was able to easily relate to them and was set a good example of how I want to be when I am their age. I am their age now and I feel like I am on the right track but it is an ongoing journey to fulfill my goal of following the Lord in most everything I do. My mother always used to say, “Do one random act of kindness everyday”. She told me it was a way to give back to the Lord for all the blessings and gifts he gave me. That is one way I do to reach my purpose. Another way is going to church. There are many things I do not agree with in the Catholic Church but it is the closest way I feel I get close to the Lord. Going to church makes me feel like I am better suited to fulfilling my goal. I use it as a “refresher course” or reminder of what I need to do to be a happy person. I’ve been though stages of my life when I greatly doubted the Lord. Whenever I am in doubt, looking through my bible at some of my favorite passages and verses helps get back on the right track. Faith journeys are always an ongoing rollercoaster, but these are a few ways I do to reach and succeed in fulfilling my purpose in life.

Life Coach: you are to seek that one thing by which you would do everyday for free and find a way to get paid for it.

At a certain point of our lives we may realize: "What is the purpose of our life?" Then, we remember our dreams in our life, our aspirations, and the things we have wanted to be. However, it would be very late to change the course of our lives we have tracked down. We may blame ourselves for not being conscious on what our destinies wanted us to be. According to Undrai Fizer, "When you have discovered your destiny in God, you have just found the compass of life. Your destiny is the purpose or intentions of God for your life." John 11:26 tells us “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” The New Testament speaks of God wanting to have a relationship with humans both in this life and the next life, although this can only happen if our sins are forgiven (John 3:16–21 and 2 Peter 3:9). Thus our purpose in this life is to know, love, worship and glorify God so we can enter heaven in our afterlife and be happy with God.…

Becoming closer to God is another goal that I would like to accomplish during this school year. Achieving this goal will require praying more often instead of just when I need something. It will require doing more service work as well, which is the reason that I have joined service clubs at school such as CLC and Key Club. In addition to praying more often and doing service work, I will go to church every Sunday, which will help me to become closer to God. Achieving this goal is important to me because overall, I will be a better and happier person.…

The overarching goal/purpose for my personal life is: to love God and to love my neighbors. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself’ (MSG). If I can learn to love God with every aspect of who I am then God will work in and through me. I will be able to become who God wants me to be and I will be able to love myself in a healthy manner and then be able to love others. As I learn to love others as I love myself there will be healing, relationships will be restored, and most of all counselees will begin or renew their relationship with God.…

Common answers include: happiness or flourishing; love; compassion; pleasure; power; knowledge, understanding, or wisdom; and being blessed, or achieving union with God or the divine; or simply that there is no meaning to life. Philosophers, religious authorities, artists, scientists, and countless ordinary people have thought a great deal about the question.
