"What a lot of people don't know is when I hurt my back, it affected my nerves to the point where my whole left leg just went dead basically," the Lakers center said Thursday. "I couldn't do a calf raise." The Back injury of Dwight Howard in the 2012 season affected him for the rest of his career. This back injury did not only end the rest of his season but it also gave him the frightening idea of not returning to the NBA. After his surgery Dwight did come back feeling better than ever especially after several months of training in the offseason. The Lakers were ready to build their new dynasty with Dwight Howard as their newest addition. This team was ready to be the greatest this year. Dwight was ready to dominate the league. As the 2013 season began to move on, the Lakers were not doing as well as they planned to. With an injury to their all-star point guard Steve Nash in the first game of the season, the Lakers were stuck because now they didn’t have a dominant point guard. It was all up to Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard to score. Now everyone knew how Kobe played, he would shoot an insanely amount of shots every game and even though he does make a good percentage of them, it was not enough to bring the Lakers to victory. Kobe was not passing the ball enough therefore no one else was really scoring on the team. Kobe is good but he cannot do it all. As the year was moving on, Kobe realized that he had to give it up to Dwight Howard in the paint and move the ball around a lot more. When Kobe realized that his team was not doing so well he started passing the ball more and the Lakers were beginning to win games. After about a month into the season Steve Nash came back from his knee injury and was moving the ball around again. The Lakers were doing well, at least until it happened again.
