Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard: Are You Ready? "What a lot of people don't know is when I hurt my back, it affected my nerves to the point where my whole left leg just went dead basically," the Lakers center said Thursday. "I couldn't do a calf raise." The Back injury of Dwight Howard in the 2012 season affected him for the rest of his career. This back injury did not only end the rest of his season but it also gave him the frightening idea of not returning to the NBA. After his surgery Dwight did come back feeling better than ever especially after several months of training in the offseason. The Lakers were ready to build their new dynasty with Dwight Howard as their newest addition. This team was ready to be the greatest this year. Dwight was ready to dominate the league. As the 2013 season began to move on, the Lakers were not doing as well as they planned to. With an injury to their all-star point guard Steve Nash in the first game of the season, the Lakers were stuck because now they didn’t have a dominant point guard. It was all up to Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard to score. Now everyone knew how Kobe played, he would shoot an insanely amount of shots every game and even though he does make a good percentage of them, it was not enough to bring the Lakers to victory. Kobe was not passing the ball enough therefore no one else was really scoring on the team. Kobe is good but he cannot do it all. As the year was moving on, Kobe realized that he had to give it up to Dwight Howard in the paint and move the ball around a lot more. When Kobe realized that his team was not doing so well he started passing the ball more and the Lakers were beginning to win games. After about a month into the season Steve Nash came back from his knee injury and was moving the ball around again. The Lakers were doing well, at least until it happened again. On January 4th, 2013, Dwight Howard injured himself again, but this time it was his shoulder. After the Steve Nash injury earlier in the year

Swish! That is the sound of LeBron James and Kevin Durant trading buckets. Since they both possess freak athleticism and lethal scoring ability, LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s statistics are excellent for players their age. Due to his mastery of the game, LeBron James had a head start in the NBA. In fact, he was the number one recruit in the nation coming out of highschool. Therefore, NBA scouts wanted him to head straight to the NBA draft after graduation. He is also four years older than Kevin Durant, so his point total is higher than Kevin Durant’s. LeBron James’s point total is 30,072 points. On the other hand, Kevin Durant was the number two recruit in the nation coming out of high school. Kevin Durant played college basketball for one year at the University of Texas at Austin, and he is four years younger than LeBron James. Therefore, his point total is lower than LeBron James’s. Kevin Durant’s point total is only 20,222 points. Although it seems like Kevin Durant is far behind LeBron James in total points, he is really not. In fact, LeBron James had only 2,948 more points than Kevin Durant at the same age. Therefore, in the same season and at the same age, LeBron James had 23,170 points compared to Kevin Durant and his 20,222 points. Despite Kevin Durant being approximately 10,000 points behind LeBron James, he has been the NBA’s scoring champion a remarkable four times.Yet for LeBron James, he has only been the NBA’s scoring champion once. Kevin Durant’s…

Earvin Johnson Jr. was born on August 14, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan, Magic Johnson dominated the court as one of America's best basketball players for 12 years. If there was one aspect of Johnson's game that awed people the most, it was his brilliant passing skills. He dazzled fans and dumbfounded opponents with no-look passes off the fast-break, pinpoint alley-oops from half-court, spinning feeds and overhand bullets under the basket through triple teams. When defenders expected him to pass, he shot. When they expected him to shoot, he passed. Johnson did all of this while maintaining a childlike enthusiasm born of a pure love of sport and competition. Beyond all the money, success and fame, Johnson was just happy to be playing basketball. He retired from the LA Lakers in 1991 after revealing that he had the AIDS virus. He has since then built up a business empire called Magic Johnson Enterprises, which includes real estate holdings, several Starbucks franchises, and movie theaters. Magic Johnson is also a proud part-owner of the Las Angles Dodgers. He signed his contract with the Dodgers before the 2012 season has started and he seems very excited to help this…

Despite having an All-Star in Blake Griffin and an established big man in DeAndre Jordan, L.A. hasn’t gotten anywhere to closing the gap between themselves and the upper-echelon of the Western Conference. Take Paul off the Clips and put him on the Nuggets and he’s running into roughly the same situation, playing on a solid team, but one that doesn’t have a good chance of making it deep in the…

Gasol was having a great season prior to going down. He was averaging 16 ppg ,7 rpg. 3.8 apg, while being the defensive anchor. What’s really hurt is the impact that he had on both ends of the floor. While he was out, it put immense pressure on Zach Randolph and Mike Conley to lead the Grizzlies on both ends. Especially, Offensively, it led to Conley having to take on more playmaking duties and Randolph having to put up more point down low. Then throw in some more injuries and the Grizzlies had to play at a fast and rely on fastbreak points. The Grizz aren’t known for playing at an up tempo pace, which as a result led to them not scoring a…

His mentality for greatness is off the charts and his passion for excellence is the passion that every player should have in the game or in any matter for that case. In his career, Kobe has an average of 83.8 percent from the free throw line, ahead of Jordan, and also a 34.1 percentage from beyond the three point line, which is also better than Michael Jordan's percentage (Drake Oz). A lot of people look at MVP awards and national championships to decide who is the best and things like that. Michael has 5 MVP titles while Kobe only has one, but they are overrated and misleading (Drake Oz). Kobe has had much better seasons than a lot of former winners of the MVP award. Example, in 2006, Steve Nash won the MVP of the league. Nash had a great year, but Kobe put up monstrous numbers and had a fantastic year with the Lakers. You cannot base the potential of greatness off of awards. Yes, they help your confidence and your reputation as a player in the league, but they do not define your greatness and ability that you may have to show. Michael has also won 6 championships and Kobe is only at five, but Kobe is most definitely not done playing either. The age-old argument against Kobe Bryant used to be that "he only won three titles because of Shaq. Well, fast forward to 2010, and Bryant has more titles (five) than Shaq (four) and was the star of those two teams while Shaq played second fiddle to Dwyane Wade. Not saying Bryant would have won all…
