1. Introduction
In the February 1970 issue of The American Statistician I had shown how the dummy variables 1 and 0 can be used as an alternative to the standard analysis of variance and covariance techniques and the Chow
[1] test. That discussion was, however, confined to two linear regressions and to two variables-one dependent and one independent. The purpose of the present note is to generalize the dummy variable technique to more than two linear regressions in more than two variables and to point out some of the problems involved in the actual application of the technique.
