Dufree Case Summary
Milford Case
After reading this case, my ranking is as follows: Dufree, Burke, Harlow, Alderson, Eaton, Gibson, Furness, and Caplan. The way in which I rated these salesmen was based on the information given in both cases (A&B). Dufree was given the number one sales person for the simple fact that she was able to have the third highest sales with relatively no large accounts. This shows that she is maximizing her profitability and sales in these smaller markets. I believe that she has the potential to be the number one sales person in the district, if she is given the opportunity to capture a few larger markets. Burke was placed in second and not first because of the fact that he is a bit lazy. Being in the company for 15 years can

He is ranked higher, because although he has the most accounts he also makes the third most amounts of calls and is able to create generally good relationships with his clients. Coming in third is Harlow; Harlow has been with the company a relatively long time and his first half sales were second to Eaton. He has around the average number of accounts, but he does make the second most amounts of calls. Like Dufree, he does not have many accounts, but the ones he does he has a good grip on. He too is able to maximize profitability on his accounts. Next we have Alderson, who is new to the company, but we cannot fault him for that. He is ranked higher than many of the longer tenured employees because of his willingness to learn. He makes the most calls, has the most accounts and seems to have the drive to succeed. He is relatively young and has to develop some sales tools in order to be number one; however, the potential for him seems to be through the roof. After Alderson we have Eaton mainly because of his age. It is taken into account many times that his old age has caused his work to decrease. On the other hand, his high sales, good rapport with his consumers, keep him in the top four salesmen.

Still, the safety of these estimates can be compared with actual field measurements upon the return of the evacuees. However, the high degree of compliance with the stipulated limit in all the towns suggest that additional protection measures would be unnecessary, especially for the indoor residents. Overall, the relationship between the external ambient and individual doses was critical to predicting the annual doses per evacuee upon returning home to either of the areas under investigation. Generally, the doses for external exposure were much higher than those for internal exposure. Perhaps, the time of exposure in outdoor settings might have provided more realistic predictions of individual dose…

The parents allege that Rob Jr. was tricked into attending some meetings. One night about a year ago, Rob Jr. was getting ready to return home after one of their youth meetings. It reached a pinnacle when Tom told Rob Jr., "If you leave, you will be thrown into the eternal fires of Hell, and you will not be allowed back." Rob Jr. acquiesced and remained. The next day Tom had Rob Jr. write a letter to his parents telling them that he was planning to stay with the Church, as they were his "new" family. Rob Jr. was also told to demand money from his parents to cover his expenses.…

In December, Republican North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed into law a bill that limits Gov. –elect Roy Cooper’s power in making appointments by combining the elections board with the State Ethics Commission. The State Ethics Commission oversees ethics laws governing lobbyists, elected officials, and government employees. Lester Mews is the vice president of sales. Lately, he spends most of his time interviewing and hiring new sales reps. After adding 10 people to the sales roster, and shuffling territories, Mews realized he needed to promote one of his senior reps to an area sales manager. Two candidates fit the position. Melinda Curtis is one of Skymation’s best closers. She has been a President’s Club member every year since she was hired five years ago. Her dynamic personality is an inspiration to other reps, and she has had great success with the two rookie reps she has mentored. Her “take-charge” personality has been a boon to Mews, who often asks Curtis to help him plan sales meetings. The other choice is Scott Lanier, who is a six-year veteran of Skymation. Lanier is a solid producer who is looked up to by many of the younger reps. He is great at building customer relationships, and always has supportive words and suggestions for his peers on how to improve their sales techniques. He is surprisingly detail-oriented for a salesperson; his sales reports are always filled in perfectly and turned in on time.…
