My parents have always taught me that education is for anyone, anywhere. This has made my view on education and learning strong, as I have been encouraged to learn all my life. In this essay I will state how I define “world-view” and how my beliefs and attitudes effect the way I get an education and the way I learn. I will outline what has shaped my “world-view”, such as my gender, age, religion and culture. All these things effect the way I learn, and will always learn. My world-view will influence the way I act in all circumstances, and the way I perceive the world.
Samovar and Porter (2004) describe world view as an “overarching philosophy or conception of the world”. I agree with this, and I think that is a summary of what I believe “world-view”to be. I believe “world-view” is how we look at the world, how we make sense of all that we believe to be real. Everyone has a “world-view”, but they are may not always be aware of it. It is important to think about others “world views” because this will help in becoming aware of our own.
Learning is an ongoing process, it will never stop. I started to learn from the moment I was born and will continue to my death. Learning is much more personal than formal education. I learn everywhere I go, about every little thing. I develop attitudes about all I believe, I have my own opinion on every matter. As for education that is something you get from school or university. I get education from other people passing on knowledge. I don’t get it from looking at a flower outside, but I do learn form the flower. I have been home schooled all my life, so I haven’t been exposed to potentially damaging opinions that one gender is more important or better, as may happen in a school environment. Some people in schools will treat children differently,
