Dub Goob Summary
The story of Dub Goob AND HOW MOST OF OUR HUNTERS DIED

Somewhere in North America, around the Appalachians, around 12,000 years ago. I am Dub Goob, I'm 16, and I am a member of the Sorrod tribe, part of the alliance of the Druk. We all live in small huts, and wear mastodon, deer, and other animal furs. The clan comprises 49 people and 15 dogs. 22 of these people are warriors and hunters. Our clan and our allies live in a valley that stretches along the river, surrounded by high mountains and hills, and lots of forests and wildlife. The forests are dangerous, so we stay in the valley. The area in the valley is grasslands and swamps. Our clan used to live on fish and mastodon, but the fish are no longer abundant and recently, the mastodons that

So, some people went to see what the noise was. I fell back asleep and when we woke up I was told that Greeb and Frok were badly injured by a dire wolf attack, so we needed to stay in the huts for the day. I went down to the river and ate some dried rabbit, then grabbed my arrow to find more. My dog Bork was able to sniff six out, so the supply did not go dry. I saw something in the distance watching us, but it walked away, so I went to camp and went to bed. The next day we walked until we reached a swamp. It was underneath the leaves and tree branches, so gronga and booga fell in. frong grabbed their arms, and struggled to hold on. I stepped in to help him, but then I saw a Saber tooth tiger grab Froog and rip his head off. Many people started yelling, and Gronga and Booga were left to die. We kept on walking for the whole day until sundown through the flat valley, stopping every once and a while to rest. Then we saw a lake with many fish and mastodons in the distance. We threw our nets into the water, while some people watched the mammoths. We walked towards the mastodons after catching some fish. The mastodons started screaming and I thought ‘Did they see us?’ But then, the entire herd of mastodons started running at us, thundering the ground and knocking over trees as they ran “GROO GROO GROO!” Green yelled as he pointed at the mastodons. All 15 of us ran as fast as we could to the trees. As the mastodons shook …show more content…
Unfortunately, Greeb’s leg was still recovering and he ended up falling and being eaten. People were panicking and hiding in the woods until we thought we were safe. But then, all of a sudden, a short-faced bear came out of the woods and roared and towered over us as we scrambled to fight it. “GROOK GROOK!” Yelled Frek, as he signaled for us to go. I said “GUMP?” and gestured to him to run.The bear ran up to him and he stabbed it with his spear, and he fought it off for as long as he could. The bear swiftly killed him with its giant claws, and ran up to the rest of us.”GROOOOOOOOOOOO!” I yelled as I watched him die. Running as fast as we can. 3 people fell into a ditch as we were running and were slaughtered by the bear. Everyone was panicking and running, and many fell over and were attacked by the bear. My group got away by doing sharp turns and running around trees, but was badly injured. I was horrified and grabbed some leaves to help my group, but only myself, Froog, Googa, Berg, and the dogs lived, and a majority of our group was dead. We walked out of the woods, and buried the bodies. We walked through the hills alongside the pass for days, until the mammoths stopped. Then we saw how

We set up and went to bed early. I could hardly sleep. The whole night is kind of a blur, but the next morning around 5:00, my dad woke me up and we all set out into the darkness. Hiking up to the area where we thought the elk would be, we saw a huge, 8 point bull elk, but it was before shooting light and we had to let him run off. After this, my dad and I found a small meadow in and sat down to wait for shooting light. As the meadow filled with light, we heard tons of shots all around, but mostly down the hill below us, we saw nothing, so after an hour or so, we moved on. After a while trekking through some thick brush, we found a clearing. The cycle of hiking, waiting, and seeing nothing repeated itself a few times. Then, in the closing minutes of daylight, we came across Kotchwar, who had downed a cow elk an hour before. We all headed back to the spike camp. Kotchwar headed back to the main camp, and my dad and me felt some disappointment watching him leave, but this had happened before and my dad had gotten an elk, so we had hope. We made these horrible MRE like things for dinner and went to bed, feeling optimistic for the coming…

For Mr. Adamson had turned, and seen what none of the watchers on the hill could see, and he gave a shriek that carried far over the common and lost itself in darkness and distance- a long, long shriek that will never be forgotten by any that heard it. The watchers on the hill watched as the wretched looking beast swallowed Mr. Adamson whole. They sat in awe as they saw the monster approach them. The monster then opened his mouth and ate three of the watchers whole. The other watchers ran for their lives while others flooded 911 with phone calls.…

The first hour and a half we listened to the birds and watched the squirrels eat away at the trail mix. The sight of this made me hungry so I got out my peanut butter sandwich and red Gatorade. Around 4:45, I was lightly sleeping when I heard a loud snap from a few hundred yards away. My mind began racing as I tried to figure out what could have made that noise. Every couple minutes I could hear another branch break and it was getting closer and closer. An hour later the noise had moved from a few hundred yards in front of us to less than 30 yards behind us. “Don’t move” my dad whispered. We could hear leaves crunching under the feet of whatever was behind us. The noise continued onto the path that leads right to the bait pile. I slowly turned my head to the left and saw a 325-pound bear with a furry, black coat. Instantly my breathing became heavy, my whole body was shaking and my heart was about to pound out of my chest. I grabbed by gun and raised it to my shoulder, almost dropping it from all my shaking. I rested my Remington pump shotgun on the chilly aluminum edge of the Rivers Edge tree stand. “Click” I took the safety off of my shotgun and looked down the iron sights. The bear was licking the frosting on top of the white cedar log. BANG! The bear spun and took off into the thick green underbrush and fell after 20 yards. I couldn’t believe it; I was so excited. My dad and I waited 30 minutes and then we got down from the tree stand and followed the trail to where the bear was laying. I reached down and touched the smooth, plush coat of the bear, thanking it for the meat it would provide for my…

Fortunately it was a foggy morning, and within half an hour the two were out of sight of camp and herd. As Pink had outlined the plans, everything was understood. We were encamped on a nice stream, and instead of trailing along with the herd, lay over for that day. Night came and our hunters failed to return, and the next morning we trailed forward towards the Arkansas River. Just as we went into camp at noon, two horsemen loomed up in sight coming down the trail from above. Every rascal of us knew who they were, and when the two rode up, Pink grew very angry and demanded to know why we had failed to reach the river the day…

The five of us start off with the remaining colt meat and the measly amount of berries we have. Both of which are not enough to supply five grown men for a day, much less three days. As we hunt the trees swaying indicate a breeze, but the scorching sun makes it so that the breeze is not present with us. The birds, chipmunks, and what we called the White-tailed jackrabbit could all be seen and heard, but no animals worth hunting made an appearance. Nobody spoke unless absolutely necessary. We all wanted to conserve our energy in order to not need as much food. This tactic was not effective, but it gave us comfort. The silence of our voices were interrupted by the growl of my stomach, so Will sat and…

They attacked his legs viciously, making small tears on his ankle, causing blood to gush out rapidly. They held us down by the lake. Our parents weren’t near by, my parents were cooking my fifth meal of the day. We were on the green grass and the king otter came up to us as his little followers held us down.
