Sikhnet.com is a website that deals with just about everything that a Sikh needs to know. In addition, it’s a good website for those who are not Sikh’s to gain more knowledge about this particular religion. The website contains a great amount of news, past and present about the Sikh religion.
Furthermore, it includes blogs where people can talk to each other about the Sikh religion online as well as the Sikh calendar. There are many audio clips as well as quite a few video clips for the visual learner. They thoroughly explain what meditation is and they explain how one would go about meditating. The website includes lectures in case one is looking to practice their religion or if one is just curious to learn about this unique religion.
In addition, the website includes a radio as well as a link to where you can purchase CD’s and DVD’s. The site even includes mobile apps so that you can have easy access on a smartphone. I was very surprised that the website even includes a link called “Sikh Matrimonials” where Sikh’s can enter their information and look for a significant other that is also a Sikh. An event calendar is also available so that they always know what is going on with the Sikh religion. They also make the site kid friendly by having a bunch of different mini-games. Overall, the site essentially has everything that one needs to know about the Sikh religion.

I would have to say that the most important similarity the two have is that they both believe in reincarnation, life after death. Some of the differences the two religions have are they have a significantly different age group, diet, means of survival and they also have completely different concepts in who their God is. Jainism is the oldest known religion in India, whereas, sikhim is the youngest group. Although they both believe in reincarnation, Jains do not believe in a god or in several different gods, they believe the earth is a never ending cycle and it all depends on the measures they take for survival. Whereas the Sikhism group believes in a god also known as Allah, they believe forming a relationship with Allah, their god, will save…

Mr. Patil and his family have moved from India and have no family here in the United States, which is very different from the Indian culture he had back home. Furthermore, they are the first family from India to move to Springfield, Massachusetts. Therefore, it would be beneficial to educate the Patil family on local Hindu temples in the area, such as the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Agawam, Massachusetts to help provide spiritual and social support for this family. Hindu temples would have the ability to provide a sense of community for this family, while also giving them social interactions with others who have similar cultural values and beliefs. There is a restaurant in West Springfield, Massachusetts called Pintus Indian Palace, which serves amazing Indian food which the Patil family may enjoy visiting. Finally,…

The first of three religions that will be discussed is Sikhism. There are twenty million Sikhs in the world and is the world’s fifth largest religion (Queensland Health, 2011). The religion was founded in the sixteenth century in the Punjab region of India (Queensland Health, 2011). The Sikhs spiritual views on healing include praying to God for help recovering from an illness. The people of the Sikh faith are encouraged to accept death and illness as a part of life and the will of God. Sikhs have close family relations and it may be common for patients to have many visitors while in the hospital. The critical components of healing for the Sikhs are prayer, which can be performed anywhere and is usually done three times a day. Another component of healing for people that practice Sikhism is mediation to help relieve anxiety and depression, as well as, listening to sacred music and hymns (Queensland Health, 2011). Sikhism combines the use of modern…

Websites such as www.jainworld.com generate its own activities and services for Jain followers across the world. They have digitized scriptures so the concepts and ethical teachings are available to everyone. There are radio lectures and music, links for teachers and parents, a children’s corner, even a calendar of Jain events happening across the globe. It is due to the internet, social and mass media that Jainism has spread outside of India for the first time in the religion’s history, and now have flourishing communities in Africa, Europe, and North…

Site Review: Hinduism Raho Nur On a beautiful Sunday, February 10, I headed over to the Hindu Temple of Minnesota. It was 10am and I made it just in time for the Ganesh Homam and Abhishegam ritual. Words could not explain how breath taken the structure was and, also came to learn that Hindus are very welcoming. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “I’ve came to a conclusion that all religions are and true and all have some error. And, as I hold by my own religion, I should hold other religion as dear as Hinduism, our innermost prayer should get that a Hindu should become a better Hindu,…
