In an article called from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration called, “Impaired Driving: Get the Facts” it states, “Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 51 minutes. The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $59 billion” (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1). The fact that so many people die every day in the United States from alcohol related accidents is absolutely ridiculous. The stories are endless. In Steve Schmadeke’s article, “Man gets 15 years in DUI accident that killed mother, son” He talks about the terrible tragedy that ended two innocent lives. Schmadeke states, “A speeding, unlicensed driver who crashed into another car on the Northwest Side, killing a mother and her teenage son and injuring three other children, was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison” (Schmadeke 1). Because 37 year old, Richard Strum decided to drive while intoxicated, he took two innocent lives and injured three others. He not only took a mother, but he also took a daughter, sister, and wife. He not only took a son, but he also took a brother, cousin, best friend, student, and ultimately someone who didn’t even have a chance at real life before it was taken away. Drunken driving accidents are far too…

There are times when you might not want to worry about driving. During these times it might feel good to just sit back and relax, while you leave the driving to someone else. Perhaps you're going on a brewery and wine tour with a group of friends, for example. It just doesn't seem fair that one person has to skip tasting the wine or beer in order to be the designated driver. What happens if the designated driver isn't as responsible as you thought? This can lead to a host of problems that can quickly turn a fun day out, into something that takes your life down a very difficult path. Instead of taking such a huge risk, it makes more sense to have a hired driver. No one makes a night out more fun than we do. Make West Coast Limo Bus in Chula…

Considering I was a state legislature, I would be very passionate about the drunk driving laws within our state. You see I see now real difference in murder, lets say aiming a weapon at someone an shooting them and fatally killing them vs. drinking a fifth of whiskey purposely choosing to get behind the wheel of a car and killing an innocent person. Where the difference comes into play in my opinion many people have drove a motor vehicle while drinking and never shot anyone, therefore less likely to judge there own self in that fashion. The current vehicular homicide law ranges from a class B to D felony and ranges from three (3) to ten (10) years in jail. The aggravated vehicular homicide law is a class A felony and comes with host of factors that would have to be applicable ("LexisNexis® Custom Solution: Tennessee Code Research Tool," n.d.).…

Whether you have been in a car with a drunk driver or you have been the drunk driver. Whether you injured someone because of drink driving. Whether someone lost their life because of your drink driving. Whether you were injured because of a drunk driver, or you know someone who lost their life because of a drunk driver, I imagine the feeling to be pretty horrific. My grandfather was killed in a car accident that had nothing to do with drink driving. What if you lost someone because of something so stupid and so preventable as drink driving? This is why my three factor are: 1) How does alcohol affect your driving? 2) Short term and long term effects and 3) How to prevent it?…

This theory established by Albert Bandura, insists that by observing others, people acquire knowledge in areas such as rules, skills, strategies, beliefs, and attitudes while providing a sense of self-efficacy. Social learning theory renamed ‘social cognitive learning theory’ highlights the idea that much of human learning occurs in a social environment. According to Bandura (1971), “…new patterns of behavior can be acquired through direct experience or by observing the behavior of others” (p. 3). To apply this theory to the problematic issue of drunk driving is very simple because through recent history it is shown that our surroundings and the crowd kept have a huge impact on behavior. Although it is also suggested by Kail and Cavanaugh (2010) that all behavior is not imitated but that, “People are more likely to imitate if the person they see is popular, smart, or talented” (p.14).…

Between 1990 and 1993 in rural Alaska, of the 192 native deaths, 66.6% were found to be alcohol related (Segal, 1998, p.276). Suicides in Alaska that derive from alcohol abuse exceeded national rates for than 20 years now and it seems that this factor is more common among Alaska natives than non-natives (p.276). Deaths clustered in families where multiple members abused alcohol (Seale, Shellenberger & Spence, 2006, p.12). As one of the male interviewees explained about how he was raised seeing his mom and dad drink, and later his brothers, who adopted that habit that later resulted in their deaths from DWI (p. 12). Coming from that type of background it hard to resist being mentally unstable and needing a lot of therapy. Suicide deaths that plague Alaska native communities occurs numerously among young males 17 and 30(p.14). This cannot continue to happen or it will continue for future generations until none of them are…

Drunk drivers cause more deaths, injuries, and destruction than all murderers, muggers, rapists, and robbers combined. Every six hours, someone is killed by an impaired driver. Every twenty minutes, someone somewhere in Canada becomes a victim to an impaired driver. Every year, more than 45% of all traffic fatalities involve alcohol.
